Chapter 1

Madeleine's POV:

I wake up from another dream of my parents. I look around and realize I'm still in the "Happy Fun Times" orphanage. This place shouldn't be allowed to exist. I remember my biological mom and dad leaving me in this group home. This is horrible. My sister and I have both been adopted once but immediately returned like damaged goods. I was seven when Megan and Colson dropped us off here and never looked back. That was five years ago I'm almost twelve. As I finish getting dressed I hear Mrs Agatha yell.

"Madeleine and Lexy get your lazy asses down here and go to work! Oh and you better bring me your checks today." Agatha yells.

"What if we dont get them today?" I ask smartly

"Then don't bother coming back." Agatha says

"Fuck it any place is better than here." Lexy says under her breath causing me to chuckle quietly

Lexy and I pack our bags and head out to see my best friend Noah waiting in the driver seat. We both pile in the car.

"Hey Noah!"' I say hugging Noah before he drives off.

"Hey Lex Noah is gonna drop you off first since you have to be at your set filming "Freaks" today." I say turning around to look at her smiling

"Okay you can pick me up at five that's when filming ends." Lexy says

We pull up to Lexy's set and she hops out quickly giving me a hug before rushing inside.

"All right Noah you gonna hang with me on set today? I know "Stranger Things" is on break right now." I ask him as Noah pulls into my set

"Yeah are you kidding me I need to have first access to "Black Phone" I'll have bragging rights to tease Jenna with." Noah says getting out of the car at the same time as me 

I grab Noah's hand and we run pass set running to my trailer relaxing before I have to be on set.

"Hey, do you wanna go to a party tonight at my place? We can invite Lex and Jenna." Noah says suggesting as I nod

"Sure I'm down I don't feel like going back to the orphanage tonight so that that works." I reply scrolling on my phone

Before Noah can say anything, my Director finds us as he knocks on my trailer door before walking in. I see the one person I haven't seen in years, the person I thought I would never see again come face-to-face with my eyes.

Megan's POV:

I wake up getting a call from my manager telling me that a Movie called "Black Phone" needs someone to play the character Gwen Shaw's deceased mother and that they wanted me too. Of course I said yes. I heard this movie is gonna be groundbreaking so I'm excited to be part of it. I hurriedly get ready and immediately get in my car driving to set.

"Good morning Megan thanks for doing this I'll take you out back where the trailers are so you can meet the cast." Tom the producer says.

"Awesome I'd love too!" I reply excitedly

I follow Tom throughout the set meeting varied people of the cast. Until he brought me to the trailer of the actress playing Gwen. I locked eyes with one of my kids. One I haven't seen since she's was seven now here stands a beautiful preteen who's almost twelve.

"Madeleine this is Megan." Tom says as Madeleine stands there shocked

"I know who she is we actually met before um Tom do you and Noah mind leaving while I talk to Megan alone for a minute please?" Madeleine politely asks Tom

As Tom and Noah leave the room Madeleine looks up at me with fiery in her eyes. Eyes that used to be filled with wonder now filled with brokenness and hatred.

"You need to leave. You know Lexy barely remembers you she doesn't know you. She doesn't even think of you as our mom. All she knows is you abandoned us and left us like trash all because you and dad... I mean Colson got too busy for us. Look we have never had a home. We were adopted once separately and then brought right back. We are currently in an orphanage that takes all our money and where the owner abuses us both. I try to protect Lex at all costs thanks to you and Colson I have had too. No one was there for us. Lex is almost eleven and is on a movie called "Freaks" and she's amazing she has a best friend named Jenna who's funny. We both are successful no thanks to you and no thanks to Colson." Madeleine says

"Look I know Colson and I messed up but I wanna take you guys home." I say as I hug Madeleine and I watch her shake her head no

"Home? We don't even have a home we never did since the day you gave up your rights." Madeline says coldly

Before I can say anything a boy comes bouncing in the room. A boy who seems to be Madeleine's best friend. A boy that has been there for my daughter longer than I was. A boy who knows every trauma both my girls went through. A boy who's named Noah who saved my daughters since the day I left them at the orphanage.
