Cassopiea lay on the examination table, her heart pounding with anticipation. She squeezed Sirius’s hand tightly, drawing comfort from his familiar presence. The room was cold, and the doctor’s hands were colder still as she spread the gel on Cassopiea’s nonexistent bump. Despite the chill, a warmth spread through her chest as she focused on the tiny life growing inside her.

*Cedric, I wish you were here,* she thought, her heart aching with the bittersweet memory of her lost love. *You should be the one holding my hand, hearing our baby's heartbeat for the first time.* She blinked back tears, trying to stay present in the moment. *But I have to be strong for our child. I have to survive and make sure our baby knows how much you would have loved them.*

The doctor moved the ultrasound wand across her abdomen, and soon, a rhythmic whooshing filled the room. Cassopiea’s breath caught, and she felt her eyes welling up. The sound was magical, a tiny heartbeat echoing through the small, sterile space. It was real. Their baby was real.

Sirius stood beside her, his grip on her hand tightening. He was fighting his own battle with emotions, memories flooding back from a different time, a different life. He remembered the day Lily and James had first let him listen to Pia’s heartbeat. The joy, the hope, the promise of a bright future—it all felt so vivid, as if it had happened just yesterday.

*Lily, James,* he thought, feeling a lump form in his throat. *You would be so proud of her. She’s been through so much, but she’s still standing, still fighting.* He glanced down at Cassopiea, her face a mixture of awe and sorrow. *I promised I’d protect her, and I’ll protect this little one too. For you, for them.*

The sound of the heartbeat grew louder, filling the room with its steady rhythm. Cassopiea’s mind wandered to the future. She imagined holding her baby for the first time, looking into eyes that might mirror Cedric’s warmth and kindness. She pictured their child growing up, learning to navigate a world filled with both magic and danger. But she vowed to fill that world with love and safety, to create a haven where her child could thrive.

"I’ll tell them about you, Cedric," she promised silently. 'I’ll tell them how brave and wonderful you were. How much you would have loved them.'

Sirius, meanwhile, was lost in his own reverie. He could almost see Lily’s radiant smile, hear James’s hearty laughter as they shared this moment. "We’ve come full circle, haven’t we?" he mused. "From listening to Pia’s heartbeat to now hearing her child’s. Life has a way of carrying on, even through all the pain and loss."

He looked at Cassopiea, pride swelling in his chest. "She’s so strong, stronger than any of us ever imagined. And now, she’s going to be a mother. I’ll be there for her, for both of them. No matter what."

The doctor smiled, breaking the trance-like state both of them had fallen into. “Everything looks good,” she said gently. “The baby is healthy.”

Cassopiea and Sirius shared a look, a mixture of relief and joy passing between them. In that moment, the world outside the doctor’s office faded away. All that mattered was the precious life they had just heard, a life that symbolized hope and the future. Cassopiea felt a renewed sense of purpose, and Sirius felt the weight of his promise to James and Lily strengthen his resolve.
