You Sent Me a Smile

I opened the photo's you sent me and scrolled, and before long I stumbled on one and I froze- you sent me a smile, a genuine one- though I knew you were lovely, your smile's the sun.

I much prefer shade, or the night or the moon, but you know sun is what makes the marigolds bloom.

It's sun that starts spring, and sun that melts snow, and without spring or summer, we wouldn't have fall.

It's under the sun that I venture to mountains, and after the sun that I gaze at the stars.

Before the sun rises, a moment of silence, then everything wakes when the sun finally nods.

The sun makes a great many things all that better- without the dear sun, we'd have far bleaker weather.

I told you I'd show you the stars, from my view- but remember, the one that shines brightest is you.
