i remember you waiting by the doorstep as i entered your home, choking up with sad eyes.
i walked slowly as you helped me up the stairs.
i kicked off my shoes, sat down on the bed and gave you a sorrowful look.
without asking, you brought me a glass of water and left it on your bedside table.
i lay down on your bed, and you did the same and we threw our arms around each other.
it was in that moment we became grieving parents.
my heart felt so empty, i couldn't think of anything to say.
but i remember what you said as you shed a tear "you would've been a great mother"
and that will stay with me forever.
