one day you will be a dad.
i might even see you one day in the supermarket.
i may have to do a double take because it's been so long.
but i'll see you walking with your brood of children.
or maybe you'll be on your own, walking over to the baby aisle picking up baby wipes, formula, and nappies.
i'll try to walk past subtly so you don't realise it's me, but i'll catch your eye anyway.
our eyes will lock and we'll freeze.
i'll ask how you've been, and about family and work.
and you'll tell me all about the life you made.
i'll say it's been good to see you and you'll say you too.
but we won't exchange numbers, we won't go out on a date, we won't stalk each other on social media.
i'll probably listen to all the songs you used to play on the drive back home.
i might even shed a tear, just thinking about the past.
