Harry's POV
Harry woke up with a jolt, blinking at the morning light filtering through the curtains. The room was warm and cozy, and for a moment, he just lay there, enjoying the comfort. Today was special; Sev'us had promised him a surprise, and Harry could hardly contain his excitement.
He scrambled out of bed and padded into the kitchen. The smell of fresh-baked bread filled the air. Harry's eyes widened as he saw Sev'us setting out a breakfast spread of warm bread, scrambled eggs, and a pitcher of fresh juice.
"Good mornin', Harry," Sev'us greeted with a rare smile. "Ready for your surprise?"
Harry bounced on his toes, barely able to sit still. "Yes, Sev'us! What is it?"
"Patience," Snape said, placing a plate in front of him. "First, you eat your breakfast."
Harry dug into his food with enthusiasm. The eggs were fluffy, and the bread was still warm. As he ate, he glanced up at Sev'us, who was busy preparing something at the counter.
After breakfast, Sev'us led Harry outside, and they walked together to the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Harry's heart raced with excitement; he loved exploring the grounds of Hogwarts.
They reached a small clearing surrounded by tall trees. In the center was a large wooden box. Harry's eyes widened as Sev'us opened it to reveal a beautiful wooden playhouse, complete with a tiny broomstick hanging from the roof and a small window with curtains.
"Surprise!" Sev'us said, his voice filled with warmth.
Harry's jaw dropped. "Wow! It's amazing! Can I go inside?"
"Of course," Sev'us replied, giving him a gentle push toward the playhouse.
Harry darted inside, his laughter echoing through the garden. The playhouse was filled with tiny, magical touches: a small table with miniature chairs, shelves lined with tiny books, and even a little bed.
The rest of the day was spent exploring every nook and cranny of the playhouse. Harry was thrilled to discover a little bookshelf stocked with tiny storybooks. He read some of them aloud, pretending to be a great storyteller.
"Sev'us, come and see!" Harry called, dragging his guardian inside. "Look at all the books! And there's even a bed!"
Sev'us looked around the playhouse with a soft smile, clearly pleased with Harry's reaction. He sat down on one of the tiny chairs and listened as Harry excitedly described his favorite parts of the new playhouse.
When the sun began to set, Harry felt a pang of sadness at having to leave. He held Sev'us's hand as they walked back to the castle, the evening air cool and refreshing. His thoughts kept drifting back to the playhouse, which felt like a magical new world just for him.
"Sev'us," Harry said as they neared the castle, "Can we come back tomorrow? I want to play more."
Severus looked down at him, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Of course, Harry. We can come back whenever you like."
As they entered the castle, Harry felt a deep sense of contentment. The day had been perfect, filled with laughter and joy. He clung to Sev'us's hand as they settled into the warmth of the castle, looking forward to many more days like this one.
Snape's POV
Severus Snape watched as Harry's face lit up with sheer joy. The sight was both unexpected and deeply gratifying. For so long, his life had been defined by duty and the weight of past mistakes. Today, however, was different. Today, he had made a conscious effort to bring happiness into Harry's life.
The playhouse was more than just a gift; it was a way to provide Harry with a space where his imagination could run wild. Severus observed Harry as he explored every corner of the tiny house, his laughter and excitement echoing through the clearing. It was a rare and precious sound.
Severus had spent a lot of time preparing the playhouse, ensuring that every detail was perfect. From the miniature furniture to the magical touches, he wanted it to be a place where Harry could feel safe and joyful. Watching Harry's reaction made every effort worth it.
As the day wore on, Severus noticed how Harry's joy seemed to grow with every new discovery. The little bed, the tiny books, the small broomstick—all of it made Harry's eyes sparkle with excitement. Severus found himself feeling an unexpected sense of pride. He had always been cautious and reserved, but today, he allowed himself to embrace the role of a caretaker in a new way.
When they walked back to the castle, Severus felt a sense of fulfillment that was both new and profound. Harry's happiness was infectious, and for the first time in a long while, Severus allowed himself to fully embrace the warmth of these moments.
As they entered the castle, he saw the contentment in Harry's eyes. It was a look that reminded him of the importance of these small joys. The playhouse was more than just a gift; it was a symbol of the love and care that Severus had for Harry.
In the quiet of the castle, as they prepared dinner, Severus reflected on the day. He realized that these moments—simple, joyful, and filled with laughter—were the ones that truly mattered. They were the building blocks of a new and hopeful future for Harry, and for him as well.
