A Prayer

Written by me, and a more recent work. A general prayer for humility and reliance on the LORD.

Lord above, o Saviour God,
Would You hear my sigh?
So 'oft I feel I'm failing, Lord,
Would You hold as I cry?

You search my heart, you know my depths,
You see my sinful stains,
Offer me Your mercy, Lord,
And ease these stinging pains.

Turn my heart to lean on You,
Please, do not let me run,
Bind my hands and feet, o God,
And keep me, Holy One.

You know my heart's desire to stand
And walk in my own way,
Wash me of this foolishness,
And lead me not astray.

Humble me when I am proud,
Yet hold me when I fall,
I cannot bear to walk alone,
I can't bear it at all.

Lead me to Your arms, o Lord,
And hold me in Your love,
Sanctify this fool, Dear God,
With grace come from above.

Grant me strength when I am weak,
Nourish me, a thirsty stalk,
So in the morning I may rise,
Take up my cross and walk.

Pick me up so I may run
The race You have ordained,
And regard me when again I fall,
And cry out in Your name.
