(Story set in the 50s)
**Fluff**
The dialogue between Penelope and Cheryl is inspired by a real dialogue between me and my mom. Of course I adapted it to the 50s settings but you get the idea..
Its been in my mind for so long now, I had to document it somewhere😅
As always..Thanks for reading!!The dining table is as quiet as it usually is. You can only hear the chewing sounds, the forks and spoons clattering on the porcelain plates in front of them.
Cheryl watches the food in front of her as she thinks about the misery she's living in.
Mother is cruel, father is unbearable, and Julian is just... there, making things even harder for Cheryl.
Penelope coughs. "Matilda was telling me of her daughter today. She told me she's finally got a boyfriend and soon will be ready to settle up," she said with her usual cold tone.
Cheryl hesitates. "Thats swell."
"She was quite relieved. As Matilda said, 'Finding a boyfriend is better than having no crushes at all. In today's world, anything is possible." Penelope says before she takes a bite of her salad.
Cheryl reserves herself from frowning, even though she does so inwardly. "What does that mean?"
"Deviant behaviors among teens have highly increased recently. We hear of wonders every day now."
Cheryl gulps, trying to pass her food down without choking.

"Toni, I think she's starting to catch up." Cheryl says with a slight panic in her tone.
The girls are sitting in one of the booths in 'The Dark Room', the place where they feel the safest—well, as safe as they can feel.
"Why, what happened?" You can hear the panic in the brunette's voice too.
"She keeps mentioning the daughter of her friend who's ready to get married. She also said that her friend was relieved to see her daughter with a boyfriend because 'Deviant behaviors are increasing day by day'" She stops before looking at Toni's sweet eyes.
"Who would actually say such a thing?"
"I know right..thats the unsettling part. It feels like she's trying to set me up..like she's trying to get this thing out of me." The redhead explains.
Toni seems to be thinking before she speaks. "You have to do your best and try not to give in—at least not to her. I know this isn't ideal, but it's our reality. We have to be...as much as it pains me to say...careful with our love." She gently puts her hand on top of Cheryls.
She feels a great warmth taking over the fear she was just feeling. Toni has this effect on her.
"And Cheryl, you have to know that you're perfect and nothing's deviant about you. That's an important thing for you to remember." Toni gives her a soft, warm smile.
Their thumbs gently caress each other's hands. "I could kiss you so bad, Topaz."
The brunette smirks. "There's also another bright side..mutual bathrooms!" She winks at Cheryl before she stands up and heads towards the toilet.
A smirk appears on Cheryl's face before she follows her lover. She was determined to get that kiss.
This was short, but I hope you enjoyed it!♡
I hope things become easier for everyone who's suffering in the closet<3
