Chapter Two

Yao stood there staring helplessly around the almost barren apartment that had been her home since she was a young child. A lump formed in her throat as tears once more filled her eyes causing her to close said eyes. Not helping it, she allowed herself to fall backwards onto the couch behind her as she felt her knees beginning to tremble. A sob tore from her throat, a sob that was a mixture of grief and agony as it felt like someone was piercing her heart with a knife over and over again. Not helping it, she raised her hands and buried her face into them as her shoulders began to shake as tears slid down her cheeks as even more grief hit her, tearing another heart wrenching sob from her. However, she was relieved more than anything on this earth as a pair of strong warm arms wrapped around her shaking form as someone sat beside her. She did not even fight them as they pulled her close, holding her tightly to an equally warm and strong body. Her entire body sagged against the form of her Captain and did not even fight it as the man tucked her head underneath his chin as he encouraged her to lay her head down on his chest. Gratefulness filled her as the man just held her and let her cry.

Sicheng grimaced with pain as his heart clenched at every agonized grief filled sob that came from the woman he was holding close to his chest. Shifting some, he lifted his right hand and began to run his fingers through her hair as he had noted it had a calming effect on her. "Just cry, okay Yao-er. Don't bottle it up." he encouraged/whispered softly to the woman as he gently kissed the top of her head.as she wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.

"I miss them." sobbed out Yao as she moved burying her face into the man's chest, gladly accepting his offer of comfort because right now, she was honestly thinking the only thing that was keeping her from shattering...that was keeping her from completely and utterly just giving up right now? Was the man that had come for her, who was currently holding her and dead set on not only being there for her but offering her as well whatever comfort he could.

"I know sweet-girl, I know." spoke Sicheng in a softened tone with pain in his voice as he tightened his hold on her shaking and sobbing form. He did not bother to say anything else because he knew sometimes saying less especially in situations like this was better...plus what the hell could someone say to someone that had just lost both of her parents...essentially making her an orphan in one fell swoop.

A small tired sigh slipped past Sicheng's lips as he was leaning back against the couch an hour later, still gladly holding the now passed out form of his Mid. She had cried for nearly a half hour before passing out in his arms. Glancing around the apartment as best as he could, he mentally cataloged what else needed to be done. He noted there was not much left to do as for the past two days, he worked alongside Yao and helped her pack everything up along with separating everything she wanted to keep and wanted to donate. However, he was damn well relieved as his stubborn, hard headed independent girl (sometimes too much for her own good!) finally relented and accepted her best friend's offer (well more like Jinyang practically ordering her to accept) of help to store the things she wanted to keep at her place considering her condo came with an offered storage room in the basement of it and along with arranging for someone to pick up the things that were being donated.
