Ara's POV:
I've successfully survived living with Vicky for a month, and despite the constant bantering, fighting, and flirting, it's become a bit of a routine. Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
This morning, as I'm in the kitchen making coffee, Vicky strolls in, looking like he just rolled out of bed.
"Good morning, sunshine," I say with a hint of sarcasm.
"Morning," he mumbles, rubbing his eyes. "What's for breakfast?"
I glance over at him, smirking. "Well, if you want to know, you'll have to get up earlier than me."
He groans and drags himself to the counter. "Is that a challenge?"
"Maybe," I tease, pouring coffee into mugs. "Or maybe it's just a fact. You know, considering you usually show up here looking like a zombie."
He rolls his eyes but can't hide his amused smile. "Yeah, well, some of us like to sleep in. Unlike some people who seem to have boundless energy."
"Boundless energy? More like I have a consistent routine," I retort, handing him a mug of coffee.
He takes a sip and raises an eyebrow. "Not bad. For a morning person."
"Thanks. I'll take that as a compliment," I reply, enjoying the playful banter.
We sit down at the table, and he starts scrolling through his phone.
"So, what's on the agenda today?"
"Well, I have a bunch of assignments to finish, and you have to stop being a sloth and actually do something productive,"
I say, giving him a pointed look.
He laughs. "Gee, thanks for the motivation. I was planning to finish a new series I started."
"Of course you were," I say, shaking my head. "I swear, if I didn't keep you in check, you'd be glued to the couch all day."
He grins. "And you'd be bored out of your mind without me to annoy you."
"In your dreams, Vicky!" I turn and head back to the balcony but catch him whispering, "Every day, love." There's a hint of sadness in his voice that I can't quite place.
I stay quiet and continue with my day, trying to focus on my assignments but unable to shake off the feeling that something is off.
The day drags on with assignments, but I can't seem to focus completely. Vicky's offhand comment keeps replaying in my mind. Why did he sound so sad?
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it felt like there was more behind those words.
In the afternoon, I decide to take a break and go for a walk to clear my head. As I step out of the building and stroll through the nearby park, I find myself lost in thought. Vicky and I have developed this strange rhythm of banter and flirtation, but it's almost like we're both avoiding something deeper. I can't help but wonder if he's feeling the same way.
When I return home, I find Vicky in the living room, watching TV. He glances up as I walk in.
"Hey," he says casually, but I can tell there's something off in his tone.
"Hey," I reply, taking a seat on the opposite end of the couch. The silence stretches between us, and I can't help but feel like there's something unsaid.
After a few moments, Vicky puts down the remote and turns to me. "You-"
But I'm interrupted by the doorbell. I get up and walk to the door, only to see a face I least expected-and definitely didn't want to see-standing on my doorstep.
Ugh, not him!!
"Hello, Baby..."
