Maisie clutched her machete tightly, the cold metal sending a shiver down her spine.
As Maisie trudged back towards the last known location of the others, a sense of unease settled over her. Suddenly, a movement caught her eye, freezing her in her tracks. There, lurking in the shadows, was a Griever. Its twisted metallic form sent a wave of fear coursing through Maisie's veins. Without hesitation, she raised her machete, ready to defend herself. But before she could make a move, Newt and a few others emerged from the darkness, their bows drawn and ready to strike.
"Over here!" you kept hearing.
"Run!" Maisie shouted, her heart pounding in her chest as she sprinted towards the council room, the others close on her heels.
As they burst into the council room, relief flooded through Maisie as she saw the familiar faces of their friends waiting for them.
"Lock the doors!" Maisie shouted.
"Is everyone okay?" Thomas called out, concern etched in his voice. Before anyone could respond, a monstrous creature known as a Griever burst through the ceiling, its sharp claws reaching out to snatch unsuspecting prey.
In a heartbeat, chaos erupted as Chuck was ensnared by the Griever's grasp. Without hesitation, the Maze Runners sprang into action, their hearts pounding with adrenaline-fueled bravery. They rushed to Chuck's aid, pulling with all their might to free him from the creature's clutches.
Alby, the stalwart protector of the group, grabbed a wooden stick nearby and charged at the Griever with unwavering determination. With a mighty strike, he lashed out at the creature, causing one of its arms to snap off and drop Chuck to the ground.
As the Griever recoiled in pain, the Maze Runners seized the opportunity to regroup and assess their next move. They knew they were facing a formidable foe, but their bond as a team was unbreakable. Together, they stood ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
"Thanks, Alby!" Chuck, thanked Alby for saving him.
"Alby, watch out!" Thomas's warning cut through the tense stillness. But before Alby could react, A Griever, a monstrous hybrid of machine and beast, emerged from the shadows, its mechanical limbs reaching out to ensnare Alby in its inhuman grasp. Thomas lunged forward, desperation lending strength to his limbs as he tried to pull Alby back to safety. But the Griever's grip was merciless, dragging Alby further into the darkness that loomed at the maze's edge.
"No!" Thomas's anguished cry pierced the silence, The other Gladers, frozen in shock and horror, watched helplessly as their fearless leader vanished into the unknown depths of the maze. As tears welled in Thomas's eyes, he knew that he had failed to save Alby, the man who had guided and protected them all since they first arrived in the Glade. A sense of grief and guilt enveloped him, threatening to consume his very soul.
Determined to honor Alby's sacrifice, Thomas made a decision in that moment. With a single-minded focus, he turned and ran back outside the maze, ignoring Maisie's warning plea.
"Thomas, don't go out there!" Maisie's voice carried a note of urgency, her eyes wide with fear. But Thomas's mind was made up.
Everyone headed out after Thomas, but stopped when they seen the glade destroyed. Maisie turned around to see the sharp figure of Gally storming towards them, his jaw clenched tight and his eyes blazing with fury. other Gladers exchanging wary glances as Gally approached.
"Gally?" Maisie called out, her voice tinged with concern. But before she could say another word, Gally reached Thomas and landed a brutal punch square on his jaw. Thomas staggered backward, his hand flying to his face as a look of shock crossed his features.
"This is all you, Thomas!" Gally's voice was a growl, filled with pent-up anger and frustration. "Look around you! This is all on you!"
"Back off, Gally." Newt's voice cut through the tension, his tone firm and commanding. He stepped forward, placing himself between Gally and Thomas, his eyes locked on the seething boy in front of him.
Maisie stood defiantly before Gally, her eyes flashing with a fierce determination. Gally's jaw was clenched, his brows furrowed in anger as he glared back at her.
"It's not Thomas' fault, Gally," Maisie's voice rang out, breaking the stillness. She could feel the weight of the accusations pressing down on her, but she refused to back down. "You heard Alby. He's one of them. He's one of them."
Gally's gaze flickered towards Thomas, who stood at a distance, his expression a mix of confusion and guilt. The events of the past few days had shaken them all to the core, but Gally's anger seemed to overshadow any sense of understanding or compassion.
"He's one of them, Maisie!" Gally's voice boomed through the Glade, echoing off the walls that enclosed them. "They sent him here to destroy everything, and look around. Look around, Thomas! This is your fault!"
The tension in the Glade was palpable, each member of the community feeling the weight of uncertainty and fear that had settled over them. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the towering walls, the Glade seemed to become a place of shadows and secrets.
