As dusk falls over Brambelwood, the old library's basement is a sanctuary from the encroaching darkness. Elena Monroe, with her determined eyes reflecting the flickering candlelight, and Charlotte Brewster, her face etched with concern, sit at a makeshift table covered in maps and ancient texts. Simon Blackwood joins them, carrying a satchel of old tomes and notes. Mayor Harold Jenkins arrives, his once-stoic demeanor now fraught with anxiety and determination.

Simon lays out a map of Brambelwood, highlighting several locations of interest. "The Shade's influence is spreading faster than we anticipated. We need to understand his next move to stop him."

Mayor Jenkins, a man who's grown accustomed to dealing with crises, looks at Simon. "What do we know about this artifact?"

Simon flips through his notes. "The artifact is a key to the Shade's power. It's an ancient relic that, if activated, could grant him dominion over the town. We believe it's hidden in the oldest part of Brambelwood's church."

Charlotte nods, her resolve firm. "Then we need to find it before the Shade does. But first, we need to find Gray Stone. He might still be working with the Shade, but he knows things we don't."

Elena agrees. "We'll search the outskirts of town. If anyone knows where Gray might be hiding, it's the locals. We need to move quickly."

As the group disperses to prepare, Mayor Jenkins approaches Elena. "Be careful. If the Shade is aware of your search, he won't hesitate to strike."
