As the night fell, Haerin and Danielle found themselves making their way towards the rooftop again.

During the weeks, in the end, Danielle's place became their place in the rooftop.

The hospital's corridors were quieter than usual, only the faint sounds of night staff passing by breaking the silence.

Danielle was still weak and she still needed Haerin's help. She tried to walk on her own, but she failed.

They reached the rooftop, the cool night breeze welcoming them as always.

The city lights twinkled in the distance, creating a blanket of stars in the dark.

Haerin helped her sit down, after making sure she was comfortable she took a seat next to her.

Danielle slowly laid down, her heart heavy with lots of things.

Meanwhile Haerin knew something was wrong and she couldn't shake the image of Danielle's coughing blood.

She watched as the girl looked up at the sky. Her face was pale in the moonlight, yet still pretty and pure.

Danielle really became something big to Haerin.

She really liked her.

"Lay with me?" Danielle asked. "The stars are really bright this night."

Haerin swallowed, pushing aside her worries and hesitantly laid down beside Danielle on the cool rooftop ground.

"Are you sure? The last time we looked up I didn't see anything."

"That's because they were just barely noticeable and well, you're colorblind. Let's not forget that," Danielle laughed.

"Haha, you think you're funny, don't you?" Haerin said playfully.

She finally looked up and her eyes widen slightly as she noticed the bright white spots in the dark end above them.

"Told you."

"Shut up."

Danielle laughed.

Haerin often thinks about the future. Will they be friends when they get out of here?

She wants to show Danielle their garden. Their cherry trees and their dogs.

Maybe she could sleep over too sometime. Her mom would love her for sure and she could be friends with Minji too. They-

"Haerin" Danielle said still looking up, her smile wasn't on her face this time.

Haerin turned her head to look at Danielle.

"Yeah?" she replied, her voice soft and gentle.

"What if I told you that I'm dying?"

The air froze and every sound from the city outside seemed to stop.

Did she hear it right? Is this really happening? Again?

What if I told you that I'm dying?

What if I told you that?

What if I told you?

She's dying.

Haerin felt her breath catch in her throat. Danielle's words hanging heavily in the air between them.
