Asia's POV
771 Packer Ave
Norfolk, Virginia
I was now home from school. I unzipped my shiny, black thigh high boots, without any socks, and decided to paint my nails red. I then logged onto Facebook, and replied to some post from my cousin Ayshay from Emporia. Last time I seen her was at a family reunion in Suffolk in 2019, a year before Covid hit. We still keep in touch sometimes, but yeah.
It was now dinner time, and I walked into the kitchen. My mother cooked fried chicken, collard greens, corn bread, and mac and cheese.
"Can we get Bojangles?" I asked.
"I cooked all this food, and you ain't gonna waste it!" My mother snapped. "Now, sit down and eat!"
"Yes, Ma'am!"
"How was school today?" My mother asked.
"It was okay, I guess," I said.
"You guess?"
"I don't know," I replied, stuffing my mouth with mac and cheese.
"Eat the collard greens too now, hear?"
"Yes, Ma'am," I nodded. My mother didn't know about my crush on Zakeem, and I wasn't about to tell her. I just wanted to keep this between me and Lashay for now.
When would be a good time to tell her?
