The desert air was strangely cool as the sun began to set. But yet, something about it almost seemed eerie. The feeling that something was wrong was beginning to dawn on Adora, but she couldn't place her finger on the problem.

Adora, Quincy, and Juno were on their annual girls' trip. Every year since the three had met, they had taken two weeks of their year dedicated to a trip together. This year's trip was a road trip on the famous Route 66. So maybe the feeling of being almost completely isolated in the desert, in the middle of nowhere, was bothering Ada.

Still, she ignored the feeling.

The music blasted in the green rented Jeep. It was Junie's turn to drive and Quinn's turn in the backseat. The three had no problem driving or sitting in the back though, as long as they were together. Ada sat in the front seat, giving directions when it was needed.

The sun was setting still and the girls were tired from a day and a half of driving. It was increasingly evident that they would not make it to their previously booked hotel that night.

"Guys... I hate to say it, but there is no way we're making it to the hotel tonight." Quinn spoke from the back seat. The two girls in the front giggled, only slightly nervously.

"Yea I agree. And based on Junie' silence, she agrees too. Quinn, do you wanna help me find the nearest place to spend the night?" Ada spoke, her strange feeling growing now. Quinn made a clicking sound with her tongue in response and pulled out her phone to look for the best options.

It only took a few minutes before Quinn spoke from the back, "Make your next left turn!" Junie swerved right away, taking the left turn as Quinn said. Ada and Quin gripped their seatbelts and doors with the sudden action and let out deep breathes and sighs. Junie could drive, but maybe preferred to do it a little recklessly.

"How long until we're there? I'm starving." Junie spoke. It was the first time she had spoken in about an hour. Her hunger was known to take over her emotions at time, which resulted in the chosen silence of the already quiet girl.

"Twenty minutes... the place looks pretty cool actually." Quinn said, sending the webpage to Ada to look over. Ada began to look over the page. There was no real webpage, just a yelp site with a few pictures. Both of the girls on their phones talked about the pictures they saw, seeming impressed by the measly motel.

Ada and Quinn talked among themselves and Junie drove further into the desert. The quiet strumming of a guitar began to play and Junie turned the song up. The other two girls laughed at her actions of tuning them out with a song they all enjoyed.

The three began to sing to the song with exaggerated passion.

"I heat up, I can't cool down"

"You got me spinnin' round and round"

"Round and round and round it goes"

"Where it stops, nobody knows"

The girls sang and sang. The last chorus finally came as they pulled into the motel. Junie looked to the sign and read 'The Hotel California'.

"Abra-abra-cadabra, I wanna reach out and grab ya"

"Abra-abra-cadabra"

"Abracadabra"

Ada, Quinn, and Junie stepped out of the car and exchanged looks. For a motel, the place was very well kept. The three walked into the front entrance, still feeling impressed with their surroundings.

"I'll check us in, wait here." Junie said to the girls as she spotted the front of desk. Ada and Quinn sat down on the lavish looking navy blue chairs. Seriously, for a motel, this was nice. It seemed like it was straight out of a 70's movie that featured drug rings and lots and lots of sex. The lighting of the lobby was dark and moody.
