Working for the DIA was grueling and stripped Tony of much of his emotion, leaving him more quiet and reserved. Despite the success, the death of his brother further deepened his depression and cynicism, pushing him to retire early. In an attempt to escape his past and find some semblance of peace, Tony traveled the world, immersing himself in various cultures and eventually becoming a master martial artist. He participated in several kumite tournaments, surviving and earning a reputation as one of the few to emerge unscathed.

The loss of his brother and the unresolved conflict with his father haunted Tony, but reconnecting with his nephews, Huey and Riley, brought a glimmer of hope back into his life.
