Raven and Bucky walked the streets of Bucharest for the second time that day. This time, they went in search of food. Bucky had asked Raven if she knew how to cook, to which she answered 'no' with an apologetic smile. Raven's basic education never included cooking. So, Bucky took it upon himself to make dinner for the both of them.

They walked into a supermarket. Bucky browsed the shelves for ingredients. Raven followed close behind, enjoying the view of his tall, broad back. Bucky's eyebrows were furrowed again, his focus now on selecting ingredients. Raven was curious where he'd learned to cook.

"How do you know how to cook?"

"I...vaguely remember cooking for my sisters before the war."

"Vaguely? That's not concerning at all," Raven joked.

"How hard could it be to make spaghetti?"

Raven shrugged and hummed in response. She wouldn't know. Satisfied with his answer, she imagined Bucky in nothing but an apron, standing by a stove with a wooden spoon in his hands. She giggled at the imaginary sight.

"What?"

"You look funny in an apron."

"What kind of apron are you picturing...?" Bucky slowly turned to face her, looking slightly concerned at her amused expression.

"No need for you to know," she giggled cheekily again. Stepping on her tip toes, she kissed him on the cheek and patted his shoulder before disappearing to another aisle with a bounce in her step.

"I'm gonna explore this place!" she exclaimed with excitement. It was Raven's first time in a modern supermarket. She didn't really know what to expect. There were so many different things. Entering the sweets aisle, Raven's eyes lit up like stars. The one thing she remembered from her childhood were sweets. Her father rewarded her with sweets every time she was good.

"Do I get a sweet, Papa?" Morgan asked sweetly in Russian. They were sat at the dinner table. Morgan had just finished her preschool worksheet and showed her work to her Father. She had even coloured it.

"Finish your food first, angel," He replied. His attention was mainly focused on reading the newspaper.

Shovelling food into her mouth, she licked her plate clean and asked again.

"Sweets, Papa!"

"Okay, you can have two tonight."

"Yay!" She squealed with delight before scrambling to raid the sweets jar.

Raven slowly walked through the aisle, browsing the array of sweets stacked on the shelves before her. She felt slightly heartbroken that her father couldn't love her anymore, had abandoned her. He was long dead by now, but it wasn't like he was a bad father before she had been cursed. He'd just...changed.

How could a father's love fade so quickly?

After she'd woken from her coma, and her hands and eyes gained the ability to glow a deep violet, her father had still loved her. He had even tried to care for her and make her better.

He'd searched for ways to cure her. Poured all his time into researching anything he could find about her new powers. She found him on his knees more often than not, praying every day for some kind of a revelation.

Unbeknownst to him, his actions had hurt sweet little Morgan. She had once believed she could become a superhero and be amazing in her father's eyes, but when she saw how her father acted around her, that little sliver of hope that had barely begun to burn had been snuffed out. She watched as the look of love in her father's eyes slowly morphed into disgust and disappointment.
