| "APPROACH IT QUIETLY!" YOU WHISPER-YELLED TO GEN, MAKING HIM ROLL HIS EYES. "What do you think I'm doing?!" he whisper-yelled back as he crept up the window, making himself ready for his sneak attack. You waited pensively, tapping your foot. Gen groaned at your sound before he popped right at the window, causing an unmanly shriek from Senku. You tried hard to stifle your laughter for the smart male, but you were unfortunately dying on the floor.

"You're definitely not a knight in shining armor," Gen remarked while Senku took a moment to keep his cool. "It's New Year's Day! Quit being cooped up in here," the mentalist happily chimed. Upon you recollecting yourself, Senku marched out the building with a sort of death-glare towards you, but it quickly softened once he realized how gleeful you were. 

Who was he to kill your joy? He sighed and put a hand on your shoulders, "C'mon, let's get a move on. You look like the smiling titan when you dissolve into laughter like that."

"HEY!" you grimaced. There were some insults that simply shouldn't be used...

Gen trailed behind the two of you and nonchalantly spoke, "The both of you should make a New Year's Resolution together... Seeing as how you guys are such good friends! It'd be great way to connect and make a common goal more possible."

"Yeah, right, that sounds dumb," you said, causing Gen to go up to you and tap your shoulder Senku wasn't resting his hand on. "IT'D BE A CUTE COUPLEY THING," he whisper-yelled, inspiring you to lightly smack him away. Senku looked at the two of you curiously.

"Sorry! I just saw a huge fat ugly bug on Gen!" you carefreely smiled while Gen rubbed the spot where you hit him. "I do not deserve this abuse," he muttered under his breath. "Well, be more secretive next time," you thought to yourself, rolling your eyes.

"Now that I think about it... it'd be cool if we made a resolution together," you innocently hummed, looking for Senku's reaction. Gen was practically jumping up and down in the background in anticipation of his response. "I don't know, you were right. Sounds kind of dumb," Senku mumbled, poking his ear with his free hand.

"Okay," you went, tight-lipped and awkward.

Gen was deflating in the back.

You had all caught up with the rest of the village, resting and gazing into the sky before its shimmering sun would embark a new day. Suika had stood before you, and you cast her a sympathetic glance seeing as she was still carrying a rock. You felt sorry you left her there, searching the stones, but you prioritized Gen's call first as it involved Senku.

"Our New Year's Resolution should be to..." Senku suddenly quietly said to you, voice trailing off. You couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and allow your heart to thump a little. He continued, "I think..." The sun began to rise.

A mirage of golden and ultraviolet light came- along with hints of... blue? "Beautiful," you softly whispered as Suika raised up her prize stone in a stunned state.

Senku's quiet mood immediately amplified itself, and he turned to Suika to holler excitedly, "Scheelite!"

In a way that warms your heart, he carries the girl like Simba. INSTANT images of having a family with him swarms your mind, but you shake it off, thinking yourself insane. "You helped so much- that's THE mineral," he praised the little girl, causing the entire group to pause. "We can do it!"

Suika was placed back onto the ground in exchange for the stone, and her demeanor was apparent with pride and awe. "Atomic Number 74: Tungsten! The strongest metal in the universe that won't lose to heat has been acquired!"

| "IT'S OBVIOUS HE'S NOT TAKING EITHER OF US," YOU MUTTERED TO GEN WHILE SENKU AND CHROME PLANNED THEIR LATEST VENTURE.  Since the pair were selecting their third partner, the two of you participated in a silent conversation. "Birthday, Senku," you mouthed, and the black-and-white haired man nodded accordingly. You raised four fingers, and he instantly understood. The two of you snapped back to the rest of the group as Chrome jumped back in panic. Senku had chosen Magma.

You and Gen were quick to side-eye each other from his decision. The both of you raised a hand...

Made it into a fist...

Directed it at each other...

"Rock, paper, scissors," you both harmonized, then causing a groan out of you and a laugh out of Gen. "Rock beats scissors, little historian! Now go do my dirty work," he smiled, using his hand to stop his malicious giggles. You begrudgingly moved forward, but it didn't stop you from making your hand into a fist and then raising a certain finger to make a very familiar sign directed towards him. You watched Senku and Chrome argue, and your eyes then followed an uncertain Magma who appeared to be suiting himself up.

"Bring him back in four days' time. We both know you're amazed by what he can do, so it wouldn't hurt to let us appreciate him. He'll have a surprise awaiting," you lowly spoke to the muscular man as docile as you could.

Magma's countenance made you wary; you could tell he was genuinely thinking. He seemed to be doing so earnestly without any backhanded guises. "It would tarnish my reputation as the strongest man if I got him back in pieces," he simultaneously settled, earning him a soft smile from you. "Now now, non-villager lady, swoon for me after I get you your boyfriend back just in time," he heartily chuckled, and you weren't sure if you should grouse or go flustered. You made a gnarly sound that seemed to be a mixture of both.

He continued his proud stride towards the scientist duo.

"What kind of trio is this?" you thought to yourself, but you knew you could trust Magma. Though you saw Chrome's face and facepalmed when you realized he hadn't reached this conclusion yet. They were in for a long trip...

Senku walked over to you. "It feels weird leaving you so soon..." he softly said. Gen was in the background, making faces and mouthing, "MAKE HIM LEAVE, WE NEED TO GET TO WORK." You gazed at him stupidly and then back to Senku with nervous nods. "I know, right!"

He was looking down at his feet, and the heartfelt emotions were misty in the air. "About that New Year's resolution-"

You could spot Gen making frustrated signals to you in your peripheral vision.

"YEAHHH,SOSTUPIDLMAO.THANKGOODNESSWEREALIZEDTHATOKAYNOWBYE,SEEYUH, SENKU!" you said all in one go, pushing him up to Magma and Chrome.

Phew, thank goodness that guy weighed less than a bug- you had him hauling ass over to a hill in no time with Magma berating him to hurry up.

Once it was clear he was out of earshot, it was time for action.
