-Saturday Morning-

The sun was just beginning to rise as I placed a sign outside the cafe, announcing that it would be closed for the day. Today was the day I had arranged to spend time with Sana, and I was looking forward to it. Just as I was about to head back inside to finish getting ready, I heard a familiar voice.

Irene: Haru? Why is the cafe closed today?

Turning around, I saw Irene standing there, a puzzled expression on her face.

Me: Good morning, Irene. I arranged a date with someone, so I decided to take the day off.

She tilted her head in confusion.

Irene: A date? Who's the lucky person?

Me: It's no one, really. No need to worry about it.

I was avoiding eye contact with her.

Irene's expression shifted from curiosity to concern. She looked like she wanted to ask more questions but held back.

Irene: Well, I hope you have a good day off, Haru. You deserve it.

Me: Thanks, Irene. I appreciate it.

As Irene walked away, I couldn't shake the feeling that she was genuinely worried. I wondered if my vague response had made her more anxious. Nevertheless, I had to focus on the day ahead with Sana.

Heading back inside, I finished getting ready, making sure everything was set for my day out. When I looked at the clock, I realized it was almost time to meet Sana.

I arrived at the designated meeting spot a few minutes early. As I waited, I couldn't help but think about Irene's reaction. Her concern had been evident, and I hoped she understood that I didn't want to make a big deal out of the date.

A few minutes later, I spotted someone approaching, wearing a mask and sunglasses. It took me a moment to realize it was Sana, cleverly disguised to avoid attracting attention.

Sana: Hey, Haru! Ready for our date?

Me: Absolutely. Let's make the most of it.

We spent the morning exploring the city and enjoying each other's company. Sana's playful nature made the day feel light and fun, and I found myself laughing more than I had in a long time.

As we walked through a bustling arcade, Sana's eyes lit up.

Sana: Haru, let's play some games! I bet I can beat you.

I chuckled.

Me: Oh, you're on. What's the wager?

She smirked.

Sana: Loser buys ice cream.

I accepted her challenge.

Me: Deal.

We dove into the arcade games, competing in everything from racing games to shooting hoops. Sana was fiercely competitive, and it quickly became clear that she was a formidable opponent. Despite my best efforts, she managed to edge out a victory in the final game.

Sana: Looks like I win, Haru. Time for you to buy me that ice cream.

She jumped excitedly while I was laughing at her behavior.

Me: Fair and square. Let's go.

We headed to a nearby ice cream shop, where I bought her a strawberry ice cream cone.

To avoid the attention of potential fans, we found a hidden area in a small park nearby, tucked away from the main paths.

Sana: Wah! This is perfect. Thank you, Haru.

She enjoyed her ice cream while I smiled.

Me: You earned it. Plus, it's nice to have a quiet spot to relax.

As we sat there, enjoying our treats and the peaceful surroundings, we continued to chat about everything from our favorite foods to our dreams and aspirations. It was easy to forget the world around us and just enjoy the moment.

Sana suddenly nudged me.

Sana: You know, Haru, you're pretty fun to be around. I'm glad we did this.

Me: Me too, Sana. Today's been amazing.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the park, we reluctantly decided it was time to head back. Walking together, we both knew that this day had been something special.

As we neared the spot where we had to part ways, Sana stopped and looked at me with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Sana: Haru, could you come a little closer?

I got a bit curious.

Me: Sure, what is it?

As I leaned in, Sana quickly lifted her mask and gave me a peck on the cheek before placing her mask back on. I was momentarily stunned, feeling my cheeks warm up.

Sana: Thanks for today, Haru. Let's do it again sometime.

I stuttered replying to her.

Me: D-D-Definitely. I'd love that.

We shared a quick hug and wave before parting ways, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. The day off had been wonderful, filled with laughter and connection. As I headed back to the cafe to take down the sign and get ready for the next day, I found myself looking forward to more days like this, both in and out of the cafe.
