5 WEEKS LATER
"Kristie taylor, runaway, drսg addict, Reported missing from farmington, new mexico 3 years ago. Yesterday, she turned up off a freeway Outside of rio rancho." JJ spoke addressing the team about the new case.
"sexual assault combined with ligature marks on her wrists and ankles. She was asphyxiated" Reid added looking over the file.
"Three victims in five years. Kristie taylor's autopsy report Also indicates a second connection between these victims. She was pregnant. She'd given birth. Very soon after, the unsub killed her." She continued.
Claras heart stopped.
"How soon after?" Hotch asked pulling Clara out of her daze.
"Minutes."
"This unsub isn't your typical sеxual sadist. Captivity and assault we've seen before. What we haven't seen is this signature-- The role he forces these women to fulfill before he kills them. Motherhood."
On the plane Clara was sat on her own going over the file trying to figure out if this unsub was who she thought.
JJ started.
"Four pregnant women, all found within a 50-mile radius," JJ said, tapping a photo of one of the victims. "Their babies taken, and the mothers' bodies left in public places."
Emily nodded, her eyes scanning the details. "The unsub is escalating. The intervals between abductions are getting shorter."
Across the aisle, Morgan looked up from his notes. "What kind of person does this? Stealing babies and discarding the mothers like they're nothing?"
Hotch looked up from his own file. "Someone with a deep psychological need. There's a reason they're targeting pregnant women. We need to understand their motivations."
Rossi leaned back, his fingers steepled in thought. "It's possible the unsub lost a child or was unable to have children. They could be trying to create a family in their own twisted way."
Reid, who had been silent until now, looked up from his book. "The locations where the bodies were found might tell us something about the unsub's mindset. They want the bodies to be discovered. It's almost like they're making a statement."
Hotch nodded. "We need to dig deeper into the backgrounds of the victims. There might be something that connects them beyond being pregnant."
