. . .

I never had many friends in school, even when we lived in Shibuya.

My best friend being the most popular girl at my high school was odd enough, but other than that, I don't think I talked to many other people that my sister didn't already talk to.

And there were no interesting clubs at my school either, though that's a slight lie. It's more so that the clubs that do interest me, I either don't know the kids in them, or they're weird as fuck.

And while my sister had a boyfriend, I didn't. Yes, I'm a homosexual, and yes, that's probably why no one talks to me.

Diana is a lesbian, but I feel that since she's so athletic, the popular kids just let it slide–she plays soccer.

Now, while I do wish I was actively dating, it's not a top priority, but that's just how I am. I know my sister and her boyfriend have been together for about three months now? Their four month anniversary is on the twenty-ninth.

I definitely felt happy for them, no guilt or jealousy in my mind whatsoever.

Today was May twenty-second, in the year twenty-twenty-five, I couldn't say I wasn't excited for the summer, considering we stayed on the Hojimi coast with our aunt Lucy-she's not our blood-related aunt, she's our mother's best friend.

Lucy was slightly younger than our mother, she lived with her husband and child, his name is Hiroto. He was older than both Akane and I but he was nice. He worked for Uncle Hisa, and Uncle Hisa gave him great pay.

"Mom, could I possibly invite a few friends over tonight?" Akane asked with her gentle voice, her face glowing as light as a zap collar whenever a dog is being "a bad boy."

"I don't see why not? Invite Kazuki while you're at it too! I've heard so many stories about him and yet I've only met him twice," my mother answered.

"Does that mean I can invite Diana over too?" I asked, adding onto her sentence.

"Sure! You and Akane can invite three friends each, but make sure you know who's sleeping over and who isn't," my mother repeated that twice to guarantee we knew her instructions.

Three friends. I don't have three friends.

...

Was the school actually a place where all the rich people went or was that just a facade considering the environment was the only thing that screamed "budget" to me personally. That's probably because my family donates to the school about every couple of months or so, and it's a hefty amount of cash as well. It's not anything special you know. Just straight up cash, money, that you can psychically hold.

I wish I had asked Uncle Hisa about the business he does because thinking about it now, I honestly have no idea what he does that could give him that much yen.

I still had been extremely confused about the shopping my parents had to do, I guess our food expired while we were gone. That's the only reasonable explanation I guess.

I saw the usual security guards standing outside of the doors as we pulled into the parking lot. The greenery was pleasant as well, it normally was. The exterior color was a slight yellow undertone white color, showing it as more of beige rather than white. It was definitely pleasing on the eye, as well as it always being in pristine condition.

And then there was the inside, nothing about it screamed pleasant, including the fights and the bullying that continuously happens. Diana keeps getting it stopped since everyone apparently thinks she's some sort of princess, but I don't really know why she gets to be in command all the time. I feel proud of her, but other than that, I really don't understand.

We pulled into a parking spot, most of the other ones deserted, besides for the student parking lot. The three of us got out of the car and started marching to the front entrance.

"Mom, please. Can't Akane and I just go to the island? Nothing bad will happen, I promise," I spoke without yelling, reassuring myself that each step I took, the stronger the "no" became.

"I'm sorry sweetie, but I have to shop with your father, besides, you won't be in school for that long, okay?" My mother spoke gently as I continued to walk at the slowest pace I could've strolled, ensuring I wasn't making any haste.

I exhaled the breath with a deep grunt coming out. It should've been clear enough that I didn't want to go to class, much less this school in general. But there was no way out of it.
