Mikaela was frozen in place and that wasn't just a figure of speech. Ylerio had undone Lauriel's magic, but she still felt like a human igloo.

"Go..go...go he...heel Thooomas." She managed to say with great effort and crawled over to where Daniel was.

The dwarf nodded and ran to join Thomas and Noelle.

She got on her knees and hugged Daniel. The boy was shaking as much as she was, but his powers would certainly help him recover before she did. Besides, ever since they gained their powers he seemed to emit an aura of natural warmth, and she decided she needed to take advantage of that at that moment.

To her despair, Daniel's powers seemed to have been completely gone. Lauriel hadn't just frozen them, the effect of the magic of the witch of eternal winter went far beyond that. Somehow Mikaela felt as if her life had been sucked out of her body. If Ylerio hadn't helped us in time, I think it would have been the end.

Thomas's scream made her look ahead. He hit the ground with his shield and used the magic accumulated in it to destroy the snow monsters that Lauriel continued to create. Despite his efforts, the destroyed creatures were soon replaced by twice as many as he pulverized.

Ylerio fired his magic staff nonstop, protecting the Valkyrie's rear while she tried to find an opening to hit Lauriel with her bow. With each arrow she fired, a snow monster sacrificed itself to keep its master unharmed.

"We neeeed to help." Daniel muttered and tried to get up, but his effort was in vain.

Then Mikaela felt something get tangled in her leg and looked in alarm at what was touching her. She tried to remember where her baseball bat was and realized that it was on the ground. Very close to her, but her muscles refused to work, and she couldn't force herself to pick it up.

One of the strange tentacles on the cave floor, which resembled pulsating veins, continued to wrap around her legs and when Daniel screamed beside her, she realized that he was also being attacked by them. She tried to pull her leg away, but she didn't have the strength to do anything.

When a wave of heat ran through her body Mikaela looked at Daniel. He seemed as surprised as her, so whatever that was, it had nothing to do with his powers.

"What is...?" Daniel managed to ask without shaking.

"I think these things are helping us." Mikaela realized that heat was radiating from the tentacle that was touching her.

She looked at the cave floor. Around them, the "veins" on the floor glowed brighter than anywhere else.

The cave is healing us. It wants us to keep fighting Lauriel.

"I think the cave doesn't like the witch." Daniel stood up. His fists were already on fire, and he smiled, ready for the fight.

"We need to destroy her army. If we could get rid of the snowman, the others will have a chance to take her down." Mikaela picked up her staff from the ground and felt her magic awaken.
