Deep within the dark, cold forest, the spirit of the hunt crept into a clearing and sniffed the air.

"You're late!" He growled and then looked at the figure of a man who approached him.

The newcomer seemed to have materialized out of thin air. Even hidden in the shadows of the night, his presence was hard to miss since he was almost three meters tall and had the build of a walking mountain of muscles with horns on top of his head.

"Your senses are truly impressive, wolf. Even in your current state, you're never caught off guard. I did well to choose you as an ally." The man said, and his strong voice made the wolf keep every muscle in him ready for a fight.

"I did my part, and I hope you managed to do yours." He said and stared at the horned man who was now standing a few meters away from him.

The strange figure laughed and showed a small silver sphere that he held in one hand.

"With Santa Claus, the dwarves and the Valkyrie out of the fortress, catching this was easier than stealing candy from a child."

The spirit of the hunt analyzed the sphere and then asked.

"How long until we can get things going?"

The horned man looked at the sky, reflecting patiently. That night, the moon was not visible and only a few stars shone in the sky. One of them shone brighter and then fell towards the earth.

"Sooner than our enemies can imagine, one of our allies has already answered the call."

The wolf stared at the shooting star and then howled into the night.

Santa and his chosen ones of hope may have thought they had saved humanity, but the real battle was just beginning.
