(No one's POV)

It was super rare Keith and Allura ever got busy with work at the same time. Allura made a joke that she was a 'stay at home mommy' and would be with Lance during the days Keith worked, but he encouraged her to get a job and actually have some fun instead of watching the baby all day every day.

Don't get them wrong. They love the boy more than anything, but they agreed Allura needed to get a job to keep herself grounded so she wouldn't go insane with the same routine.

But now they have a reoccurring mini issue.

Sometimes Allura and Keith's work hours line up and they end up having to work the same day, so they need to find a babysitter.
Allura has only been working a few months, so this is a rare occurrence, but it has happened more than once. The first time Keith brought the baby with him to work. To sum it up, Keith went home early. The second time Keith worked from home, which worked well at first, but ultimately he started to just clock in and then fall into his normal daddy routine of cleaning the house and tending to Lance.

After the 4th failed attempt of working from home, both caregivers agreed to find a babysitter.
They didn't want to just hire anyone, not someone who didn't know Lances triggers and didn't know him well enough to deal with any episodes he might have.
They then thought of Hunk, but he was in the middle of mid terms and didn't have time. Pidge was brought up but quickly remembered the little absolutely despised her. Finally, Shiro came to mind after Allura heard the little babbling to his bath toys during tub time.

"Babababababa~" he sang.

Allura brought it up to Keith after she put the boy to bed. They thought bubba would be a great fit with Lance. The boy hasn't seen Shiro in a few months, but he saw the man regularly enough to have a small bond so they decided that Lance would be comfortable asking Shiro for things when he needed it.

Surprisingly Shiro is actually good with the kid. Keith wouldn't have expected for him to be good with kids but here they were. Sitting on the floor in their living room 20 minutes before Keith had to leave for work, watching Shiro play with Lance.

If Allura was as here she'd call him a hypocrite and make fun of him for being the overly paranoid parent.

"And you know how to change his diaper without him kicking you in the face?"

Shiro looked up and smiled reassuringly and rolled his eyes.
"Keith, I know. We've been over this loads of times. And this isn't my first time changing him or even watching him. I've got this." Keith let's put a sigh. He agreed with Shiro and then leaned down to look at his baby who was playing with Shiros hand with wide eyes, sucking on his pacifier.

"I gotta go my darling. You be good for me, yeah?" He kisses Lance on the head. He's not even sure if the boy understood him as all he does is giggle and reach for him. He was having a particularly smaller day today after the nightmare fiasco a few nights ago.

"Oh you're so cute, I can't do this."

"Keith just go. He'll be fine with me, I promise."

"I know, Shiro. But he has the worst separation anxiety with me." Keith picks the baby up and holds him to his chest as he sighs sadly. It honestly might be Keith who has the separation anxiety. Shiro quickly shook his head and took the boy from him. Surprisingly, Lance made no fuss and was actually quite happy to be held by bubba Shiro.

"Go to work Keith. I'll let you know if anything happens."

Keith looks at Lance and then at Shiro. He should probably go to work. He knows he can trust Shiro. He was the one Lance called for when they got into that fight months and months ago.
