Like usual, Persephone intended to spend her day at Nysa's field. She took her time to check her reflection in the flowing water of the river while humming, admiring her new gown woven of purple lilac.
However, an image of someone surprised her. She turned around and found the man who had annoyed her towering beside her.
"You are wearing purple flowers today," Hades said, observing her. He inhaled the faint fragrance of roses mixed with the scent of apples, indicating the girl was frightened by his presence.
Hades tilted his head while folding his arms across his black chest plate. "Why are you always frightened of me?"
Persephone's heart almost jumped out. The man was tall, his skin was pale, and his armor showed if he was one of the gods who loved to fight, unlike Hermes, the God of Poets, or Apollo, who was good at playing music. She also remembered their last meeting, where he grabbed her arm and asked her impolite questions.
Hades realized the change of aroma he breathed in. Citrus scent. He gazed at her glaring eyes before chuckling, amused by her.
"Move aside! Let me through!" Persephone yelled and stomped her bare foot.
However, Hades froze, eyeing her with interest, tracing her face and curves. Zeus had given his permission. He could take her to the Underworld at any time.
Persephone's cheeks flushed red, feeling embarrassed and offended by his action. "You! Stop staring at me, and stop bothering me!"
Hades sighed. Even her scrunched face of disgust mesmerized him.
"I'm sorry, but I can't do it." Hades gave her a wry smile.
"What do you mean?" Persephone's heart pounded. The man had ill intentions. She needed to escape.
Persephone stepped back. However, she halted, realizing that only a few steps away, she would splash into the river.
Hades burst into laughter. "I'm not suggesting you wet your pretty clothes."
"Wh-what do you want?" Persephone stammered as sweat trickled down her pale face.
Hades stepped closer, but she stepped back. He bowed slightly, whispering, "Zeus gave me his blessing to take you."
The girl's eyes widened, shocking. She gave Hades a fiery glare and yelled, "You're lying! Zeus wouldn't even let Apollo or Hermes take me!"
Jealousy overcame Hades. He grabbed Persephone's arm and growled. "Do you like any of them?"
"What are you doing?! Release me!" Persephone pulled her hand in vain.
Hades ignored her struggle. He dragged her while mumbling, "We're going home."
Persephone was wide-eyed. He was going to kidnap her. She screamed and wriggled for freedom.
However, Hades shouldered his future wife without trouble. He put the screaming and kicking Persephone onto his chariot and drove it towards the entrance of the Underworld.
Persephone clung to the side of the moving chariot with a terrified look.
"Put me down!" she screamed repeatedly and crouched down, horrified at the sight of the changing scenery at high speed.
However, Hades didn't answer. He needed to keep her out of the temptations of other gods. So, they entered the Underworld without any witness from the Upper World.
