::Chapter One- Never Letting Anyone In::

I waited for my brother to pick me up from school. We were supposed to go on a getaway for my long weekend off from school. Ever since the accident with Jake and the Nikolas siblings, Mom had been spoiling us to no end. Every weekend, we would go somewhere not too far from our home. When there is a long weekend, she would send Jake and I to one of our relatives in all parts of the States and Canada, sometimes she would even send us to Italy or Korea. Our parents had money, that was a given. Our dad was a world renounced brain surgeon and our mom ran the most famous bakery in our city. But I still didn’t agree with sending us away every weekend. We could put that money into good use in something else like starting a studio or something. But who was I to tell my parents such a thing? They were stubborn people like Jake and I.

After about an hour of waiting outside of the school, I noticed my only loyal friends, Emily and Blake, making their way towards where I was sitting. There was no way they had noticed me, seeing how they seemed to be having a deep and serious conversation. They sat on the wall not too far away from me, their back facing me. I debated with myself if I should say something or not. I decided to ignore them and just put on my headphones, I’ve learned how to live quietly this past two years. They didn’t seem to notice me until Jake’s sleek, black Lamborghini Aventador skitted to a stop in front us.

“Isn’t that Jake?” Blake asked to Emily.

“Of course it’s Jake, who else drives that around here?” Emily said. “Where’s Hae anyways? I thought she left.”

“I’m right here, you guys,” I said suddenly causing Emily to jump up in surprise.

“What the hell were you doing back there not saying anything?” Blake snapped, clutching his heart dramatically.

I just shrugged and got up to go to my brother. “Have fun for the long weekend!” I waved back at them. I slid in the car and gave Jake a kiss on the cheek, “Hello, brother.”

“Hey, sister,” he replied waving at Blake and Emily before I close the door. “How was school today? Did you have fun?”

“Ehh,” I replied half-heartedly. “How was work?”

“I told you to never ask about work!”

“Fine. Then, how was your day, dear brother?”

“You know it wasn’t too bad. I just wished they would have better food at the meetings and whatnots. I’m tired of the same cold food over and over again. It’s so annoying. Who gets to hire the cook anyways? I should really ask Dad to let me pick the cooks.”

“Like you can do any better, you can’t even cook rice.”

            “Don’t insult me!”

Before I can come up with a good comeback, his phone rang. I automatically took the phone and looked at the caller ID. The picture ID was of a girl in her early twenties if not younger. She seemed to look like one of my Jake’s models. “Who’s Lexie?” I asked Jake.

“Huh?” he looked over at the screen quickly. “Oh, tell her I’m driving and I’ll call her back before we leave.”

“Jacob DeLuca’s cell. Haera DeLuca speaking,” I answered as if I was his secretary. “May I help you, Miss?”
