Walking down the sodden sidewalk, Y/n sighs. "This day could not get any worse. First, I failed my exams, then my skirt ripped, and now I'm walking home in the rain without an umbrella." She mumbles to herself as a fat droplet of water falls on her nose.
Wiping the droplet from her nose with her drenched sleeve, Y/n shudders at the feeling of her wet clothes on her face. "As soon as I get home, I'm taking a shower." Y/n thinks to herself as she rounds the corner of her apartment building, passing by a group of guys.

"Y/n!" A voice calls out as she pulls her key card out to buzz into the building. Turning to face the voice, she's met with familiar bouncy blonde hair and a bright smile.
"Myles.. how can I help you?" Y/n forces a smile as she shifts to hide the tear in her skirt.
"I need a huge favour. Could you buzz me and my buddies in? I forgot my key card in the apartment." He points with his thumb behind him to where Y/n had passed the group of guys, each one sizing her up.
"Sure thing." Y/n replies in the friendliest voice she could muster, her unease growing with every passing second. She wanted to get this interaction over with as soon as possible. "Thanks, babes." Myles flashes her a crooked grin and gestures for his friends to come closer, the interaction sending goosebumps all over Y/n's skin. Pressing her card to the scanner, the buzzer goes off, and the security gate opens, letting everyone into the building.

"You actually let them in?!" Y/n places the two cups of coffee on the table as she sits down on the sofa. "I had to Chelsea... they were.. scary. " Y/n sighs as she looks at her best friend. They've been sharing a studio apartment since Chelseas' parents divorced in middle school. Chelsea blows her bright red bangs out of her eyes. "Scary my foot. Now they're inside the building. It wouldn't surprise me if he lied about living here, this place is super expensive. "

Y/n frowns as she takes a sip of her coffee. "I'm not reprimanding you, Y/n." Chelsea sighs apologetically. "I'm just ticked off that they loiterred outside the apartment complex and preyed on you. I'm going to ask dad to get some new security guards tomorrow. "

Y/n eyes Chelsea over the rim of her cup. She comes from a rich family, and her parents get her everything she asks for. "Guess ordering new security guards like takeaways is normal for rich kids." Y/n sighsat the thought. "On a different note." Chelsea interrupts Y/n's thoughts. "My extra lessons are ending early today, so do you want to go out tonight? Karaoke, maybe?" Chelsea's question hangs in the air for a moment before Y/n shakes her head.
"I don't really feel like going out today. I'm kind of tired, and I already have my pyjamas on. " Closing her eyes, Y/n leans back into the sofa, the events of the day replaying in her mind. "It's been exactly 3 years today, huh..." Chelsea's expression softened as Y/n opened her eyes. "Honestly.. it slipped my mind." She responds slowly.

Chelsea bites her lip nervously before getting off of their shared bed and taking Y/ns hand in her own. "Tell you what. Let's go to the memorial tomorrow wearing our graduation dresses." Chelsea says in a chipper voice, trying to cheer her best friend up. "That's kind of weird." Y/n snorts ammused at the idea of wandering around the graveyard in a gown. "Well, you're only seventeen once!" Chelsea exclaims, happy she could at least lighten Y/n mood. "Don't you have to leave for class?" Y/n reminds her with a laugh.
"Shoot! Yes! Thank you, and see you dinner time, I'll get some pizza on the way home! Love you!" Chelsea kisses Y/n on her forehead before darting out of the door, her satchel swinging violently as she runs. "I love you too!" Y/n calls after her friend just before she closes the door.

The sudden sound of a phone ringing makes Y/n jolt awake."I fell asleep?" She mutters as her eyes ajust to the darkness around her. She looked at her wristwatch, 20:30. Y/n checks her phone for any missed calls, but is surprised to find none. Looking around the dark room confused, she noticed that the front door was ajar. "Chelsea?" Y/n calls out hesitantly for her friend as she slowly stands up from the sofa. "Her classes usually end at 21:15.. but she did say that they're ending earlier today.." Y/n thinks to herself as she slowly makes her way to the light switch.
She freezes when the sound of a bottle hitting the floor echoes out of the bathroom. "Chelsea?" Y/n's feet turn toward the sound, her eyes glued to the bathroom door.
