November 6th 1983,
Hawkins Indiana

It was about 11:30pm, 90 mins after Ally's curfew of 10pm as she quietly snuck into the house. She noticed her dad's car in the driveway in front of the house, so she knew that he knew she wasn't home and would be pissed. As she crept quietly through the front door she noticed all the lights were off and was just praying that her dad had given up staying awake to yell at her and gone to bed. Just as Ally thought she had successfully made it to her room the lamp just outside her door turned on.

"Jesus! Dad!" She whisper yelled, staring at her dad police chief Jim Hopper who was staring down at her.
"Maybe Santa will bring you a new watch this year! Then you might be able to tell the time" Jim said sarcastically glaring down at her.
"I just got caught up with some friends" Ally replied.
"Friends, oh you mean the Harrington boy and the idiots he hangs with" Jim replied clearly bored of the conversation.

Ally rolls her eyes at him as he makes his way to the fridge and takes out a beer and starts drinking. Ally just stares at him huffs and goes into her room slamming the door behind her.

"Goodnight then!" Jim replies, grabbing another beer from the fridge and moving the couch and turning on the TV.

The next morning Ally rolls over in her bed she can hear the muffled sounds of the TV in the living room. She looks at the clock on her nightstand it reads 7:13, rolling onto her back and wiping the sleep out of her eyes she gets up and out of bed. She throws on her clothes which consists of a light grey sweater, blue jeans and white converse. She sits in front of her mirror and quickly brushes her hair putting it half up half down and throwing on the tiniest bit of makeup to make herself look more alive.

Ally opens her bedroom door making her way to the kitchen to grab herself some water before she leaves for school. She walks out and finds her dad passed out on the couch surrounded by empty beer cans and pill bottles. She rolls her eyes and shakes her head and pours herself the water. She turns around when she hears movement behind her.

"Oh you're alive, thought I was going to have to call you in!" She says to him sarcastically leaning against the sink.
"Don't think you're off the hook for last night young lady, you're grounded" Hopper replies sitting up and rubbing his head.
"Yeah, yeah you'll have drank yourself into another coma tonight and have forgotten about this tomorrow, the same as you do every other time!" Ally replies walking past him and grabbing her bag.
"Where are you going?" Hopper shouts following her.
"School" Ally says starting to walk
"Ally wait I'll drive you!" He responds
"No, thank you." She shouts back shaking her head as she speeds up her walking.

As Ally walks through the doors to school she notices Nancy Wheeler and Barbara Holland both of them are in her grade but she doesn't really hang out with them as much as she used to. She looks over and doesn't see her other friends yet so decides to walk over and say hi.

"So? Did he call?" She overhears Barb asking Nancy.
"Did who call?" Ally asks when she reaches them.
"Keep your voice down" Nancy shushes the pair of girls.
"Did he?" Barb pushes

Nancy looks at the 2 girls then huffs and shoots Barb a look.

"I told you, it's not like that. Okay, I mean, yes, fine, he likes me, you know, but not like that" Nancy responds as she looks at the two girls
"We just made out a couple of times" She adds.
"We just made out a couple of times, Jesus you're gonna be so cool now it's ridiculous" Barb says to her.
"No I'm not" Nancy replies, and Ally laughs.
"Sure you are the same way that when Ally and Tommy H started dating she became super cool" Barb responded.
"Yeah and we all know how that turned out" Ally replied
"Yeah but you're still one of the popular kids Ally, even if you aren't together anymore! You both better still hang out with me that's all I'm saying. If you become friends with Carol and Tommy H" Barb continues.

Ally rolls her eyes at her, yes she does hang out with those guys more but it riles up her dad more than hanging out with Nancy and Barb does.

"Gross. I'm telling you, this was just a one time, two time thing alright"

The girls stop at Nancy's locker and as she opens it a letter falls out. Nancy looks at the two girls who make eye contact with each other then back at her smirking.

"You were saying?" Ally replies smirking.

Ally walks into class and notices Carol and Tommy sitting but no Steve. She rolls her eyes knowing he must still be in the bathroom with Nancy. When she takes her seat to the left of Carol Tommy turns to her.

"Did you get in trouble last night?" He asks
"My father's the police chief and I was 90 mins late what do you think?" Ally responds
"My folks don't care what I do, as long as I'm happy" Carol says chewing gum.
"Well I'm now under house arrest until further notice so I'll see you guys when I'm like 30" Ally says and the other two teenagers laugh at her.

The warning bell rings and their teacher walks in ready to start the day.

After school finishes Ally is walking to her locker when she spies Steve, she walks over to him.

"Hey!" She says.
"Hey! Listen about last night, I didn't mean for us to end up out so late! I hope your dad wasn't too hard on you!" Steve replies to her.
"Is Steve Harrington caring about someone else that isn't is hair?" Ally says.
"Don't make me take it back" He replies.
"Don't worry, my dad grounded me but knowing him and work he'll be out too late to even notice if I did go out!" She responds.
"Speaking of your dad" Steve says as he nudges his head behind her.

Ally turns around and sees her dad walking towards them. She starts to walk down and meets him in the middle. Steve watches her and then shuts his locker and walks away.

"Dad?" Ally says
"Ally I need you to go straight home!" He says
"What? No, I still have track practice!" She responds
"Ally please! Listen, we think Will Byers is missing, so I need you to actually listen to me for once and go home!" He responds taking her arm and starting to walk to the door.
"Dad! No! I have a race at the weekend and if I miss practice coach won't let me run!" She protests, pulling her arm out of his grasp.
"Alyson Hopper do not make me carry you to the truck" Hopper says as he looks down on her.

Ally glares at him, her blue eyes challenging his! She rolls her eyes knowing she isn't going to win this and storms past him towards the car. Hopper pinches the bridge of his nose and walks out to the car with her.
