"I don't even know where to start, what happened today was an unexpected thing itself, and none of it seems to make sense. I'm sure that the bastard has used those kids, but they're not willing to let me know a single thing.
Not only that, Natasha could have easily gotten away during the time it would have taken to break open the window, unless she was unconscious at that time.
Oh and Lily, I'm sorry, you gave me this diary to express my thoughts and yet I'm suspecting you a bit. Lily, she might not be the killer, but there is so much room for her to be involved with this person, or she could have been threatened into helping that bastard.
I suspect Brian as well, though it's sort of hard to believe him threatening someone, He was a crazy little boy when I had seen him.
To be honest, I had thought about Brian the first time I realised the pattern followed by the person I'm targeting. I mean, I haven't seen him in years, I don't know how he had grown up.
Oh, those days were a different joy, he was an interesting boy to be around, you see.
The first time I encountered the boy, I was in my senior year pf highschool. I saw him standing outside my house one day, when I got near, he moved away from the door. He did it repeatedly for about two weeks.
I once told my father about him and he told me to ignore the kid, which he knew was never possible. I always liked to get deep into all the deals, so I decided to approach the boy who didn't really seem unapproachable.
His sweet smile emerged as I said hello to him, though it was a shy one.
When I asked him why he was there, he told me he wanted to meet my father because he was a prosecutor. Though father had told me to ignore him, I asked more about himself, like his name, age and his parents. The boy was an orphan, I really regretted asking about his parents. He was twelve at that time, I wonder how he looks how. He had blonde hair at that time, maybe he's changed his hair colour, though his natural hair suited him.
Well, he hated a red haired person as well, a person I never met, but heard a lot about. I don't even remember his name at this point, something starting with an R, that's when I understood why father told me to ignore him.
And the girl he always talked about, I had thought he liked her until he once told me he admired her as a little sister. Her name was Lianna, I guess.
He told me that those two were friends in the orphanage and now the girl was adopted by that red haired man, and Brian wanted to kill him. He always told me how the man was a real bad person, and he wanted to make the girl happy by getting rid of her adoptive father.
Oh, how childish. It's not an easy deal to kill someone, and why would he meet with a prosecutor while planning to kill. I always used to take his words as a joke, but now I'm getting the feeling that he might be behind all this.
I don't really know if he really killed the person he wanted to kill, Father had sent me to the city to prepare thoroughly for the exams. Those were the only days I had seen him, afterwards I never saw him, and I didn't really bother to look for him either.
All in all, he was a good friend, and a good brother as well.
Moreover, he was good in the technology related stuff as well. I remember telling me about how he got in trouble for hacking into his school system because he got caught.
I can't help but wonder how much of a genius he would be at this point in his life if he was that good just as a kid.
Yeah, maybe I can get something from those stray kids, they can't run away forever, not from me, neither from any other person who works for the law. I don't exactly work for the law though."
The pages turned by the wind, the windows had opened themselves.
"This guy has crossed the limits by hurting Natasha. I won't bother Lily anymore, she's too young to be kept stuck in this game set up by some crazy dude. She is a suspect of mine and I'll investigate her in my own way, but no danger should come for her.
Besides, she's not even professional, why would Natasha bring a student to work with us. I'll ask for a cybersecurity guy who works in the legal department."
Ahead were the blank pages, and the diary was closed by the person who wrote it.
The next day, He hurried away towards his new office that he was provided with.
As he entered his new office, he found Lily there, waiting for him. He didn't react in any way towards her.
"Have you sorted out your thoughts?" Lily broke the silence.
Daniel nodded and went to sit on his seat. He looked at her face for a few seconds and spoke, " Look, Lily, tell me how much I gotta pay you for the work you did till now, though it didn't really help. But you really don't need to continue."No response, he continued , "What's the work that Natasha gave you yesterday?"
"I'm here to tell you about that. Natasha wanted me to search for anything related to John or Veronica, it was actually much easier than the work you gave me.", Lily started to explain.
She stood up, and continued to speak while walking to and fro in the room,
"John was supposed to meet Veronica the day he was killed, the place is at CP street-21, a deserted path where nobody goes due to the rumours about a ghost being there.""Wait, didn't those rumours start around the time when John debuted as an actor,?", Lily was interrupted by Daniel.
"That's right! Back to what I was telling you, they actually contacted through a burner email account, finding about those accounts was the hardest part." Lily stopped to catch her breath, and Daniel interrupted her again as he was losing patience, " Get to the point, Lady! Why were they supposed to meet?"
"Don't be rude to me, mister. It's totally my choice to give you any information, or you can have someone else work for you, though they won't be as quick." Lily glared at Daniel, and he shut his mouth then.
"John was a human trafficker, and Veronica worked for him. It's hard to believe, but that is true. Veronica was supposed to bring another girl to him, an unknown one so that nothing would come to light."
"What happened then, did they meet?" Daniel cut Lily off once again, only to get a deadly glare in return.
"They didn't meet, he told her not to come to the place, but maybe he did go to the place. The emails you told me to work on, had that address.
One more thing, I believe you should get Veronica's autopsy soon, she can't be only eighteen if she worked in such buiseness." Lily sat back down and waited for Daniel to answer.Daniel nodded and didn't say anything. Though Lily could tell he was hiding something.
"What was the phonecall for, when you had to leave the office?" Lily walked towards his seat as she asked this question.
Daniel, taken aback by the sudden question, was about to speak, but stopped and ignored her words.
Can't tell a suspect more than she alredy does, He thought to himself.Lily took a deep breath, which could be heard by Daniel. She then walked towards the door. Just before walking away, she turned to Daniel,
"I gave you the information I had, if you really don't want me to help, then I'm off.", and walked out.She might know more, I guess I'll have her with me for a while more, Daniel thought to himself and came out of the office. Lily was still in the building, so he ran towards her and stopped in front of her.
"I guess, you could be of more help, only if you want to." He said with his breaths shaky.
Lily smirked and nodded. They both entered Daniel's office once again. Daniel signed her to sit in front of him as he sat on his own chair.
He then started to open his new computer there, and then signed Lily to look at the screen. Before Lily could make a move, a knock was heard on the door. She looked back as Daniel told them to come in.
Upon seeing who came through the door, Lily looked at Daniel with a confused look on her face.
"It's a HINT", Daniel said while looking at Lily as he stood up from his chair , with a smirk on his face.
