It's now Friday and Renjun is reluctantly getting ready for their double date. He makes himself presentable and puts on his best perfume before going to collect Yuyi to take him to grandmas house. Even though Renjun told her it wasn't necessary, she's still keeping him over night. He has a strict policy about who is invited to their apartment and some random blind date certainly wouldn't qualify.
"Are you ready to go to grandmas?" He asks as he watches him finish putting his favorite plushie in his bag.
"All packed." He says cutely.
"Toothbrush?" Renjun asks with a head tilt.
"Oh, yeah." Yuyi runs to the bathroom to get his brush and puts it in his bag.
"Ready!" He says excitedly.

The whole drive to grandmas house, Yuyi is talking nonstop about how much he loves school and his new teacher. Renjun smiles happily as he listens intently to what he has to say. He loves seeing his enthusiasm he has for school now. He wishes Mr. Lee could teach him for every grade. His mind drifts to the teacher. So handsome, smart, caring and sexy as hell. He wishes he could be his blind date instead. He quickly shakes that thought because if he goes in already disappointed, he certainly won't give him a chance.
After dropping him off and giving grandma a list of rules she won't follow, he's off to meet at the restaurant.

When he gets inside, he takes a deep breath. He has to give it a real chance. He sees Chenle waving and smiles. He walks to the table and sees that thankfully, he's arrived before his date.
"So tell me what I need to know. You haven't told me shit." Chenle chuckles.
"Well he's a bit older. He's nice and soft spoken. Uh, he's adventurous." Renjun sighs.
"I don't need adventurous, I need stable. What's his name anyway?" He asks, already feeling like this is not going to end well.
"Kun. He's a good guy, trust us for once." He rolls his eyes so deep in his head that he can practically see his own brain.
"I trusted you all those other times too." Just as he says this a handsome man walks up to the table.
"Hi, you must be Renjun?" He asks as Renjun stands to greet him.
"Hi, Kun?" He nods with a smile.

As the night wears on he proves to be a gentleman which is nice. He talks a lot about the different things he's done but after only a few stories, Renjun is feeling a little bored. He looks around the room and before he can get his eyes back to the table he hears his name called. He looks over to see Jeno excitedly talking to Jaemin as they are about to walk past their table.
"Renjun, hi, how have you been?" He smiles softly.
"I'm doing good, how is the adoption process going for you?" Jeno practically squeals.
"We were initially going to try to get a baby, but when we were at the agency we seen this little girl who was just being brought in to live in the group home. She was so scared and when we asked about her they said she had been passed around to different families but because she doesn't speak nobody wants to keep her. She pulled at our heart strings and now, I'm happy to say we have started paperwork to hopefully bring her home with us." Jaemin is staring lovingly at Jeno as he talks and Renjun thinks it's the sweetest thing.

"Congratulations. I'm so happy for you." He says as two more people walk up behind them.
"Did you grab our table yet? We are going to be drunk before dinner if you don't get us out of the bar." Renjun smiles, already they seem like such fun people to be with. Don't get him wrong Chenle and Jisung are his friends and he thinks they are fun when they are all just hanging out but, they have been quiet tonight in favor of letting him get to know this guy.

"Come on guys, it was a long day, can we eat?" He hears a familiar voice and instantly his interest is piqued.
"Mr. Lee? Is that you hiding back there?" He asks playfully.
Jeno pulls him forward.
"Just Mark, I'm not in school now." He says with a small grin. Renjun's eyes light up as he sees him dressed casually and damn, why does he have to look good in everything?
"Sorry, Mark." He happens to look at Chenle out of the corner of his eye and bites his lip before he stands.
"I'm so sorry, where are my manners?" He shakes his head as he sees the other gentleman watching him.
"This is Chenle, and Jisung. They have been friends of mine for a long time, and this is Kun." He looks at Jisung who looks puzzled and smiles, wanting to pinch his cheeks.
"This is Mark, or better known to Yuyi as Mr. Lee, and these two are his friends and coworkers Jeno and Jaemin who are blessed to be able to adopt soon. And I'm sorry, I don't know you." He says softly to the other.
"I'm Ten, I'm a good friend of these idiots." He says playfully. He looks incredulously at the other three.
"Why didn't you tell me the parents were this pretty? Maybe I should be a teacher?" He asks raising his brows. Renjun feels the heat creeping up his neck at the compliment.
"Because he is an exception." Mark says, his smile soft and his eyes not leaving Renjun and boy is he hot now. He's sure his cheeks are on fire. He looks away from Mark's intense stare and focuses on his plate.
"First of all, I don't think Johnny would like that." Jaemin says sarcastically to Ten.
"And second, I think we should probably go so they can eat. Their food is going to get cold." He pouts as he wishes they could pull a table over and join them.

"It was nice meeting you all. Sorry we interrupted your dinner." Mark says to the other three.
"Oh no, it was nice to meet you all and congratulations on your adoption." Chenle says sweetly. After saying their goodbyes Chenle sees the lingering stare between Mark and Renjun and knows his services are probably not needed anymore. He smiles to himself.

"Ugh, why would those two handsome men want to ruin their fun by adopting? I mean they are young and carefree, they shouldn't tie themselves down." Kun says as he's met with frowns from Chenle and Jisung. Renjun looks as if he will explode.
"I think you should leave." He says through gritted teeth.
"What? I'm just being honest." Renjun clenches his fists.
"Did they not tell you I have a son?" He nods as he chews his food.
"They did, but your situation is different. You were stuck with a kid, you didn't have a choice." He says as if it isn't the most insensitive thing he could say.
Renjun stands abruptly almost knocking his chair over in the process.
"I'm going to the restroom in an attempt to not commit murder. If he isn't gone when I get back I'm going home." He says to his friends.
He walks off as he starts to tear up, there was no way he would let this man see him cry.

He leans on the bathroom counter taking deep breaths.
"Hey." He hears, as the door only opens slightly.
"Are you ok?" He nods but doesn't speak. He feels a gentle hand on his back and starts to break down. Before he knows it he's wrapped in a warm embrace as he cries out all his anger.
"This is why I don't like dating. I don't want to be alone forever, but if you talk about my child like he's a mistake? Like I'm stuck with him? Do you know how hard it is to try to find someone who will treat your child with the respect they deserve? Fuck." He feels a hand gently rubbing his back as he's being shushed.
"I don't know, I don't have a child but I know that I'm always envious of those who do. You are an amazing father. I can tell, and so can the others." He sniffles as his tears are slowing now.
"You know, Jeno and Jaemin both said to me that they hope they can be half as good as you." He looks up slowly.
"How would they know that? We've only kind of known each other for a week. You are just saying this to make me feel better." Mark chuckles.
"It's true. The way Yuyi talks about you, how much he loves you and all the time you spend with him. How attentive you are with him. The way your eyes lit up that day when you got to pick him up early. Your relationship with your child is very admirable. Your love for him is very apparent, as is his for you." Mark speaks softly.
Renjun giggles.
"This is, I'm so sorry. I got you all wet." He says as he backs away and swipes at Mark's shirt.
"It's not a problem at all." Renjun nods as he smiles sweetly at Mark.
"Thank you, for what you said. And for letting me cry on you. I should let you get back to your friends though." He says as he turns on the water and splashes his face. He's quite surprised to see Mark still standing there when he's done.
"Are you sure you are ok now?" He asks softly. Renjun nods. His heart doing backflips in his chest.
"Yes, thank you." He says again.

After Mark finally leaves he has to take a few deep breaths to collect himself.
When he finally walks out he's met with the concerned faces of his two guilty looking friends.
"Renjun, we are so sorry. We had no idea he would say something that awful, he's usually such a nice guy." He sighs as he sits.
"I'm just glad I found out before I invested any time in him. But can we please stop this now? I want to wait until it happens naturally." Chenle smiles.
"I think we can, I'm sorry."

They finish their meals and Renjun decides, even though he will be a third wheel, he will still go to the movie with them. As they walk out he catches Mark's stare and smiles softly while he gives a small wave. The night definitely ended on a high note.
