Rains in Heaven is so pretty! 🥹

The day before the field trip Renjun decides to make them some lunch boxes to take with. He makes rice balls with bear faces, adds some grilled chicken slices and sliced veggies. He has Yuyi go to the fridge and grab some mixed fruit he bought, already cut from the store.
It has big chunks of watermelon, pineapple and a mixture of berries. He smiles satisfied as he watches his son carefully add them to the boxes. He really wanted to help, especially when Renjun said they would make one for his teacher.

They put them in the fridge and decide to go to the park. It's a nice afternoon and Renjun wants to get out of the house for a while. He takes him to the one closest to his house which is only a couple blocks so they end up walking. He hopes he can make a friend there. He's yet to really meet anyone in the neighborhood. There are only a few kids scattered about and a couple parents here and there. He allows Yuyi to run to the equipment while he finds an open spot on a bench.

There is a man sitting there, kind of laid back, sunglasses and a cap. He's not sure if he's a parent or just someone relaxing. He nods in acknowledgment as he sits. Renjun smiles.
"You have a kid here?" He asks softly.
"Well yeah, I'm not just some pervert that sits and watches children." Renjun frowns.
"Ok, sorry I asked." He sighs.
"Sorry, tough day at work and my daughter was getting crabby so I needed to get her out." Renjun nods.
"I get it, it's ok." He sees Yuyi playing with a few kids and smiles.

"We just recently moved to the neighborhood and haven't had much time to explore it." Renjun says looking around the park.
"Yeah? It's a nice neighborhood. Where do you live?" Donghyuck asks.
"West end apartment complex." The man chuckles.
"No way, we do to." Renjun gasps.
"Really? That's great, maybe we can get the kids together sometime?" He nods with a smile.
"I'm Donghyuk, by the way. Lee Donghyuk." He holds his hand out to shake which Renjun takes happily.
"Huang Renjun. Do you have a Mrs, or Mr. Lee that I should meet too?" He shakes his head no.
"It's just us." Renjun nods with an understanding smile.
"Us too." Donghyuck smiles, and looks at his watch.
"We should head home now. We've been here for hours. It was nice meeting you though. Can I get your number so we can set up a play date?" Renjun smiles and puts his number in his phone.

"Papa, come down the slide with me?" Yuyi asks sweetly.
"Sure bub." He says goodbye to Donghyuck and follows him over and slides down multiple times before tiring himself out.
"We better get home now, we have to make dinner and you need a bath." He says tiredly.
"Ok, I'm hungry."

After dinner and a bath and a long conversation about how excited he is, Yuyi finally goes to sleep. Renjun is wiped out. He's dealt with his over excitement before and knew it would be a thing tonight but this was a lot even for him. He takes a long hot shower to relax his muscles and his mind. He's getting more nervous for tomorrow than he thought he would. He's not really sure why, they will be surrounded by children and probably won't get to spend too much time together anyway.
He dries his hair and gets into bed to hopefully get some sleep and stop thinking about Mark.

When morning comes Yuyi has him up before his alarm. He sighs, he really wanted that last ten minutes, but seeing the excitement on his son's face completely makes up for it.
They do their usual routine before grabbing the three lunch boxes and heading out.

When they arrive at the school, it's almost like most mornings. They greet Mark at the door, but this time he gets to stay.
"Hey, are you both excited?" He asks as they walk up.
"Yes." Yuyi says cutely.
Mark looks at Renjun with an expectant smile.
"Yeah." He says softly. He nods, his smile growing.
"Me too. Have a seat in the back, sorry I only have child size seating." Renjun shrugs.
He goes to find a seat and watches how Mark greets all the kids before the final bell.
