Y/n pondered in front of the doctor's door for a bit.  She kept rubbing the sword sheath against her palms. It was taking a while. She wasn't surprised, he did look pretty messed up after all.

'I'll just leave the sword here.'  Y/n finally decided to leave. She didn't know the guy, so why would she stay?

Once she turned around to leave the sword, the door suddenly opened. She jumped and dropped it unexpectedly.

It was the man. He still looked sickly, and his shirt was off as bandages covered his left shoulder. He was awake now, recovering from his hurt state.

Y/n first noticed how beautiful his eyes were, they were an ocean blue.

"Sir, you can't move just yet!" She heard the doctor pleading on the other side.

Y/n stood there like a gaping idiot. She didn't know what to say or do.

"Sword." He grunted, leaning on the door frame.

The man kept a poker face, not showing how much hurt he felt in his body. He kept his eyes trained on Y/n, and she couldn't help but stare back. He had some really nice eyes.

He then glanced over at his sword that lay on the ground.

"Oh, right!" She fumbled over her own words. He didn't break eye contact and it was making her nervous.

She bent down and picked up the sword, wiping off the dust that covered half of the sheath.

"Here you go." Y/n held the sword in front of him. She waited for him to take it, and when he did, she let out a breath. A breath she didn't know she was holding.

She then promptly left.

Y/n walked like an old windup toy on her way back home. Her arms were straight by her sides and so were her legs. She felt awkward from that interaction. But she was also glad that he was alright.

'He was kind of cute.' She shook her head to get rid of the thought, it was inappropriate.

------------------------------------------

It'd been two days since Y/n helped that mysterious demon slayer. Honestly, it slipped her mind that she helped him out. He wasn't that important to her, he was just another kind act she did that day.

"Could I get one of these please?" Y/n pointed at some squash that was displayed at a vegetable stand. She was currently at the marketplace.

She wanted to make some roasted Kabocha. She'd been craving that for a while now. Her parents send her money every two weeks from the things that they sell traveling. She made each payment she got last a month. She was smart with her spending... And maybe a bit of a cheapskate.

On a Sunday night, you'd probably find her bargaining with the store owner, to lower the price of cucumber. She sometimes has to pull the "innocent girl, living ALL alone" spiel so she'd get a few yen off.

"Of course, it will take one second." The woman that owned the stand, handed her a woven basket. She then placed squash in it.

Y/n gave her a small nod of gratitude, before taking a short walk around the village. Many children were giggling and running around, one almost bumping into her. She couldn't be mad though, every child in the village knows their manners.

"I'm sorry, miss." A little girl gave her a small bow.

Y/n could only giggle at how cute she was. She let her know it was no big deal.

She arrived back home, ready to make her roasted squash. She did have to make a fire, but she didn't mind. Before she could step into her house, however, there was a letter stuck on her door.

'Y/n L/n'

It looked ominous as it only said her name. Should she open it? Who could it be from?
