Waking Up

Fear. That's all she felt. Surrounded by nothing but a post-apocalyptic earth and this weird floating thing that called itself "Ghost." An unholy screech came from the building to her right and she found herself running towards it. Ghost seemed to scan the area before floating towards an old abandoned vehicle.

"There's a weapon in here. Take it and you can defeat the hive." A ton of questions raced through her mind. What was this "Ghost"? What is the hive? What happened to her? She had remembered dying but that was.. well.. It felt like only minutes ago. In all honesty, she couldn't remember when she died. She had been doing.... something, but the main thing she remembered was pitch black. The screech sounded again but it was much closer. Whirling around on her heels, she quickly took aim and fired at the creatures running at her. How was she so good with a weapon? Did she use them a lot in her first life? Was this something that came preprogrammed into her mind when she was revived? More questions raced through her head and she found herself starting to get overwhelmed.

"Over here, Guardian." The Ghost flashed an image inside her suit's helmet and she began to head towards the door of the giant warehouse. Once they were inside and the door locked, she allowed herself time to give herself a look over. These were definitely not the clothes, or armor, she was wearing. She opened her mouth to speak but instead a rasp came out. Her throat was dry and seeing as it hadn't been used for who knows how long, it felt as if it was going to break if she tried again. She shook her head and looked around for something to drink.

"We need to keep moving. The hive will find another way in." She looked at the floating object, she still wasn't sure what it was, and raised an eyebrow. It took her a second to realize it probably couldn't see what she was doing. She pointed towards her helmet and made a motion for a drink.

"We can see about finding something but we need to find a way to get to the City. The vanguard will help you more once we get there." She shook her head again, confused as all hell as to what this thing was saying but she wasn't going to argue. Whatever this "hive" was, she did not want to see them again. They were hideous and seemed to be out to kill her. There was no way she was dying again. She pulled her weapon up to her chest and began to walk further inside of the warehouse, looking around as she went. How long has truly passed since anything had happened? Everything around her was breaking and showed nothing but wear. Nothing was new.

As they continued forwards, the metal in the building creaked with age. It was possible that the building could collapse at any moment. If that was the case, coming in here was the wrong choice. Her mind kept telling her to turn back and just figure another way around but she kept trucking onwards. It was safer here than it was out there with the hive.

"Guardian. Before we go any further, do you know your name?" The floating object appeared in front of her, making her jump. She thought for a moment before nodding. She opened her mouth again to speak, the soreness and dryness had started to fade and she found she could talk, albeit very hoarsely.

"L-li-Lisria. My n-name is Lisria." She wasn't sure how she remembered her name but she did. Maybe it was because it was just natural to her. Something she was always called so it stuck in her mind even though nothing else seemed to have done so. Whatever the case, it was one less thing to worry about.

"It's nice to meet you, Lisria. I'm your ghost. You can call me whatever you like." Ghost looked around and scanned a hallway before dissipating again. "We need to head that way. There is a damaged ship coming up. If we can get it to work, we can use it to jump and head towards the tower."

"T-tower? What is the tower? W-what is a guardian? Can you please explain?" With every word she spoke, her voice became more and more confident. She wasn't as unsure of herself or what she was saying. Though she was unsure of the situation, she could at least speak now. There were so many questions to ask, so many things that needed to be explained. "I'm not going anywhere until you explain. All I remember was that I had died. I don't know when, or how, or even what happened to me, but now I'm suddenly alive again with this "Ghost," or so you call yourself and you expect me to just jump and go? I want answers."
