      Fire.

It was burning bright in front of him. Reds, oranges and yellows were mixing together.

It had been fifteen minutes since they were fighting. In just fifteen minutes, Paris was up in flames.

Their new Akuma, the first in years, was really living upto his name. Apparently, this guy was a chef who just recently got fired. So naturally, in his anger, he had resorted to 'cooking' Paris. Thus in turn naming himself Arson.

While Cat Noir found it funny that the name resonated with his friend Rson, there were more important things to focus on.

The most obvious being, why there was an akuma after Ladybug had already acquired the Butterfly miraculous years ago. Unless, she hadn't.

"So Ladybug, mind telling why we're dealing with an akuma right now?"

They were hiding on a secluded rooftop to discuss their next actions.

"I lost the butterfly miraculous right after defeating Monarch." She replied.

Her eyes were downcast and she looked as though she was sorry. He would've tried to understand her if it wasn't for the burning city around him. His mother, his wife, his friends, they were all there among the flames.

"And you decided to not tell me that."

"No! I sw—"

"It's fine." He sighed. "That's not what's important right now. We need to defeat that villain. So call upon your magical ladybugs and let's get this over with."

"Okay." She replied.

As Ladybug called her lucky charm a key fell into her hands.

"Alright Chat Noir, I need you to get him as far away from the civilians as possible. Meanwhile I'll deal with this." She said as she fisted the key.

He had no idea what she was thinking about but if it could stop the villain, he wasn't questioning anything. So he went out into the city in look for the villain.

As he got down to the street, a building collapsed to his left. People were running everywhere. It was chaos. People were screaming and running for their lives while the akuna was nowhere to be found.

Chat Noir went about the city trying to help as many people as he could. The akuma had disappeared, his guess was it was hiding somewhere. He went down street after street in a frenzy. Just as he helped an old woman hide, his eyes froze on a figure.

A few days ago he would not have recognised those black curls. But he remembered staring at them as he said his vows. He had not been able to bring himself to look at her, and so had opted instead to stare at those luscious strands.

Evangeline was here, and she looked to be on the verge of tears. As though on instinct he went over to her, he felt the need to ease her mind.

"Miss, are you alright?" He asked her.

She turned to look at him. Eyes widening  at his sudden appearance. They were glistening with the many tears that had already flowed down her cheeks.

Registering his presence, he saw a renewed hope take place in her eyes.

"No, sir I-I need your help." She said desperately, taking a hold of his hands.

"You see my mother in law brought me here to visit her favourite cafe in the city when the akuma attacked. She was standing right next to me and then she was taken away by the villain. Please, you need to find her."

She was holding onto his hands in the hopes that he would do something. But the fact that his mother was taken away had rendered him to shut down. Why was his mother taken? What was he to do now. He had no idea what Ladybug was doing. He had no idea where the villain was. He had no idea of anything.

So, in his first course of action he decided to bring Evangeline to safety.

"Okay ma'am, you need to listen to me. Get to a safe place. I'll look for your mother-in-law."

She nodded her head with slight relief. She trusted him. And she cared for his mother. Evangeline was a very good person.

As soon as Chat Noir jumped onto the first rooftop, he saw the familiar magical ladybugs fixing the city. Ladybug had defeated the villain. Still as sharp as ever, that one.

He saw the girl's silhouette on a nearby terrace and quickly went over to her.

"Hey Ladybug, you defeated the villain."

"I did." She replied with find eyes.

"Listen, you brought back his victims right?" He needed to sound as casual as possible. Ladybug could not know his mother had been taken by the akuma or his identity would be in danger.

"What do you mean?" She said her eyes narrowinf in confusion.

"I mean was there anyone he took with him? As hostage or something?"

"Chat Noir, there were no hostages."

Then where was his mother?
