Adrien woke up at five the next morning. It was the fastest he had ever gotten ready. Marie, their housekeeper, had tried to sit him down and make him breakfast. But he told her he wasn't hungry.
So, why was he in such a hurry?
Simple answer, Adrien was a coward.
He was scared that the brunette in his bed was going to wake up. And after yesterday, he didn't think he would be able to talk to her without feeling bad.
And so, he sat in his car and drove out into the streets of Paris. He wasn't going to work yet. He was going to drive till he found a nice small cafe to have breakfast, where no one recognised him.
It was a new day for him. He was married. Ladybug, the girl he called the love of his life was back after years. His life had changed so drastically over the last twenty-four hours.
Today, he was married. Today, Ladybug was back.
In his thoughts, Adrien had not thought about where he was going or which road he was on. Not until he was in front of the place he had been religiously avoiding for years.

Adrien hadn't realised he was there till he was right in front of it. Boulangerie Pâtisserie. A place he once loved and now dreaded.
The girl in front of the bakery was staring straight at him. That was when Adrien realised he had stopped and he was staring straight back at her, his ex-girlfriend, Marinette.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Dating Marinette had been one of the best things to happen to him. She was just so kind and sweet and cute. It was everything he wanted, someone who would look at him with so much love and respect.
It was a Sunday afternoon when he had decided to hang out with her. Both of them were in her room while Marinette sat on her desk doing homework.
He was sitting on the rug by the chaise, waiting for her to finish her work, after which they could watch a movie. In his hand was Manon's Ladybug yoyo toy that she had left at Marinette's house.
Adrien was screwing with it, until he swung it too high and it got stuck in some kind of hook that was underneath Marinette's bed.
He had always wondered what it was but she had never let him see it. Too lazy to stand up, he pulled on the yoyo hard, but in doing so, he accidentally pulled down the hook and along with it, exposed its contents.
In a second the yoyo had snapped, but it was enough for Adrien to get a glimpse. The sudden ruckus had made Marinette look up and gasp. Quickly she stood in front of him, blocking the way towards the hook.
"Oh Adrien! What are you doing?" She smiled nervously.
Adrien didn't reply. Instead he stood up and gently pulled Marinette out of the way, before she realised what had happened. He grabbed the hook and pulled it down.
Behind him he heard a gasp and a little 'oh no'.
But he didn't care. What he cared about, was the chart in front of him. It detailed his schedule and location every single hour, of every single day, for the next fifteen years.
Oh wow, so his girlfriend was the stalker type.
In his years as a model, there was one thing that Adrien truly cared about. And that was privacy. So, knowing that his girlfriend, a person he respected, had invaded that privacy, Adrien couldn't help but feel disappointed.
Disappointed that he had expected too much of someone. That he had become too happy. He should have known his rose-tinted glasses would come off at some point.
He thought he had learned how to read people. He thought he knew that Marinette was the one for him. But clearly, that feeling he used to see in her eyes wasn't love, but infatuation.
And Adrien, he did not play with infatuation. So, he turned to look at Marinette and said only one thing before he left.
"I expected better from you."
Two thing had broken that day. Manon's toy yoyo and Adrien's heart.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Some people would have said that Adrien was being dramatic, but after years of being surrounded by people who faked smiles and compliments. Adrien had come to know what he wanted. And Marinette wasn't it.
He did not know what had happened to Marinette after he left. After that day she had tried to talk to him, but Adrien was so overcome with his grief he never replied.
"How are–"
"You didn't invite me to your wedding."
Adrien was caught off-guard, "W-what?"
"You didn't invite me to your wedding", she said with sad eyes.
It was true, he hadn't. They were friends sure but they were also exes.
"Well I though it might be a bit awkward."
"Yeah but-" she hesitated as though she had changed her mind.
"Bye Adrien." That was all she said before she disappeared into the bakery.
