A/N: i've been listening to the httyd soundtrack while writing this and it's making the scenes so MAGICAL i highly reccommend. (i'm a total nerd and listen to the whole album probably once a week since 2022 because i have issues)

Finh

I don't pass out at the sight of blood, but I might at the sight of Tyra sitting in front of me. She's injured, she's tired, and still drop dead gorgeous. And missing a shirt.

I think I need time to clean up my thoughts. Unfortunately, I don't get a chance to.

"Finh!" Bjorn races over to me. "Gobber needs to see you."

"About...?"

"Uh," Bjorn winces. "Your little... outburst... today."

"Well, if he has a problem with me holding careless little fuckers accountable, I'll gladly talk to him."

"I'm obviously on your side, man," Bjorn shrugs. "I'm just the messenger. How's she doing?"

Good. She looks really good.

"Fine," I answer curtly. "Stitched her up and she should be on the mend soon."

"Good," Bjorn sighs. "I'm going to pop over and check on her. See you later?"

"Yeah, see you," I nod a goodbye before changing directions to Gobber's hut. I push open the door to see the man sitting at his table sipping ale.

"Finh!" Gobber waves me in. "Sit! Want a drink?"

"Not today, sir, but thank you," I reply, sitting down across from him. Gobber shrugs, pouring himself another stein.

"Do you know why I'm meeting with you today?"

"Ah... Bjorn mentioned it was about my confrontation with Snotlout."

"Well, yes, that, but it's other things too," Gobber shrugs. "Not to worry! I guess we can start with Snotlout. Now, I know you care for Tyra and all-"

"I don't care for her," I blurt out. How can he tell?!

"-Whatever. You can't go throwing around the other trainees. That's my job. I do appreciate you enforcing safety for Tyr- er- the others but let me do that. You and Bjorn are there to supervise and jump into the fight if one of them is in serious danger from a dragon. Understood?"

"Understood."

"Good! Onto the good stuff," Gobber smiles, taking another swig of ale. "Now, most of the others are out with your father right now, looking for the dragon's nest. But you and Bjorn are here. Well... I was doing some thinking and I'm planning on talking to your father about allowing you two to embark on journeys with the other fighters from here on out. Would that be something you're interested in?"

"Yes!" I burst. "Absolutely! Thank you!"

"Glad to hear it," Gobber nods. "I'm thinking about talking him into letting Tyra into the mix as well."

"Wha- do you think that's a good idea?" I ask.

"Do you think that's a problem? She can fight very well."

I know she can fight; that's not the problem. My problem is if something happens to her.

"She hasn't ever killed a dragon," I argue.

"Well, with the rate that trainings are going, she's looking at the best shot to kill one in front of the entire village."

My heart twists. She doesn't want to kill dragons. And I don't want her to be forced to.
