Tyra
"Hey, are you okay?"
I nearly jumped out of my seat. Hiccup, who sat next to me, yelped at my sudden movement.
"Sorry," I mumbled. "Yeah. I... have a lot to tell you."
"Me too," Hiccup nods, glancing over at Gobber, who is violently gesturing with the turkey leg while recounting a story to the group. "Should we sneak out?"
"Uh..." My gaze drifts over to Finh, who is watching us closely. "Probably not right now."
My eyes locked with Hiccup's older brother. The firelight brought out the green in his hazel irises. I must've been bothering him because he looked away after a while, focusing his sights somewhere else.
"Okay, now," I whisper, pulling Hiccup away. We scramble off from the group and climb down the tower, suppressing our giggles until we are out of earshot. I'm not sure where we're headed, but Hiccup grabs my arm, towing us towards the forge.
"Why are we going here?" I ask, pushing through the double doors. Hiccup gets the fires burning brighter before moving about the room, collecting materials. "Hiccup, hello?"
"Toothless can't fly without his tail."
"Who's Toothless?"
"Ah... the Night Fury."
"You named the Night Fury?"
"Yeah!" Hiccup shrugged, tracing out a sketch of a tail fin on a square of leather. "I fed him some fish today and spent time watching him. He hasn't left that cove because he can't fly. His missing tail fin destabilizes his entire body."
"Wait, are you making him a new one?" I ask, leaning over to inspect his current project.
"That's the plan," Hiccup confirms, already focused in on his work. "I just need to make sure that the Daredevil isn't around when I do it. She wasn't there today, so maybe I can get the tail on Toothless tomorrow."
"About that..." I sit back against a low table. "I kind of had a run-in with the Daredevil today."
"You what?" Hiccup stops working, the hammer in his hand clattering to the floor.
"Well, I was looking for you," I explain. "And she just swooped in out of nowhere. To be completely honest with you, I thought she was going to kill me. But she didn't. She circled around me and sized me up, almost like she was trying to assess if I was a threat. She noticed... she noticed the cut on my stomach. From training today."
I paused, faintly running my hand over the site of injury. Painless.
"She took my pain away," I explain. "It doesn't hurt anymore. She... numbed it and then just... left."
Hiccup stares at me.
"Say something?" I beg. "It's kinda freaky. Cool, yeah, but freaky."
Hiccup's face pulls up into a grin. "That's amazing! Oh, this is perfect! You can distract the Daredevil while I get the fin on Toothless!"
"Uhm sure," I nod hesitantly. "But what if she doesn't want me around?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, she helped me and all but... I don't wanna push my luck," I explain.
"Just try," Hiccup pleads. "If you distract her long enough, I can get the fin on Toothless and then he won't be forced to walk for the rest of his life."
"Fine!" I relent. This is stupid.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. I'm going to get my face eaten off.
