Perils of Peridea
Chapter 4
Inventory & Exploration

It took well over a week to go thru the whole ship and find what was salvageable and what could be of use. The rotations were longer on this planet, or did it just feel that way? The ships systems were all fried, with what little resources they had it could take months to even try to repair them and hope to get them to work. Ezra had thankfully recovered quite a few containers of rations and preserved food that would sustain them, but how long would that last? They kept busy for the most part. Ezra would try and practice his forms every day and Thrawn did his own grueling exercises. Ezra would sometimes hear him or feel his energy in the Force and it caused him to shudder. For the most part they left one another alone, dealing with each other very minimally except for giving each other updates or Ezra having Thrawn check his injury. It was slow going, Ezra still had to be careful when scavenging or doing his forms, it was still hurting but hopefully it was healing. Thrawn had only joked about it getting bad enough to amputate, but the thought of it getting infected still didn't sit well with him. He would only become a liability and threaten his usefulness in the truce.

Ezra had found a bedroom that had been undamaged, he called that his quarters and Thrawn took to his own, it having been mildly damaged but livable. Water supply in the ship was starting to run out and food supplies were getting low. They knew they would have to start venturing further out. They would travel and return in under a day, not knowing the terrain they never stayed away too long and didn't want to run the risk of getting lost. They had stayed close to the ship, having seen no signs of life. Ezra had felt no threat in his mediations. Whenever he tried to call out to anybody there was no responses. Was this a dead planet? The silence was unsettling to him. Considering the skies were always dark and cloudy and there was never any rainfall, it worried him. Finally Thrawn decided it was time to explore further.

"Even with rationing, we are running out of resources. We need to venture out further. We can bring supplies with us but we will need to map our location so we avoid getting lost."

"Well brains, you're in charge."

"Obviously. We have everything we'll need in these backpacks. Are you up for an adventure?"

"Adventure is my middle name." Ezra lifted the backpack on and winced, holding his shoulder.

"I always assumed it was lucky." Thrawn smirked as he looked him up and down. "Are you sure you can handle that small satchel with your injury?"

"Funny." Ezra shot him a grimace. "Yes I will manage just fine, thank you."

"Then we must be off. I did take the liberty of including bandage material in your pack."

"So thoughtful."

"Save your breath for the hike, Bridger. I don't plan on carrying you and your personality back if you collapse."

"I didn't think you would, brawn.... I figured you would drag me."

"Or kick your body off a cliff. Whichever option was easier."

As they walked Thrawn would make marks and notations on the large paper he had brought with him, Ezra didn't want to admit that his plan to map out the area was a good one. As the sun rose higher in the sky above the clouds, Ezra wiped his brow, starting to get tired. The terrain was all rock and went up and down, the climbing was rough, he wasn't sure how Thrawn had so much stamina. They reached the peak of the large outcropping of rocks they had been climbing and Thrawn finally lowered his backpack on the top of the mountain.

"Can we finally take a break?" Ezra whined, panting hard.

"We shall. We are high enough now to be able to survey our surroundings."
