it was the middle of the night in chloe and red's dorms. red was suddenly jolted awake with the sounds of chloe shouting and crying. "hey, hey chloe!" red said while running over to the girl in a panic. "mom!" she girl shrieked, as she turned back and forth in her sleep. "chlo it's okay! you're mom is safe. you are safe im here with you, nothing bad is gonna happen!" red said taking chloe's hand trying to keep her still. chloe suddenly shot up in her bed in a cold sweat. she was breathing extremely fast and her ears were starting to ring. red got up onto the bed and tried to console chloe the best she could, she wrapped her arm around her while her other hand held chloe's. red could feel chloe's heart beating extremely fast. she was shaking and trembling as red began to ask her questions to try calm her down. "what's wrong chloe what happened!?" red said trying not to be too loud and frighten chloe. "m-my mom, i saw her. after she was killed. she w-was..." chloe said shakily before beginning to sob into reds shoulder. red wasn't the best when it came to comforting others and showing affection but she needed to do something. "i'm so sorry chloe. i promise you she is okay, she's at home with your dad are they're sleeping in bed safe. i'm sorry im making you feel like this, it's all my fault. my stupid mo-" she stopped herself and thought that now wasn't a great time to unload her stupid feelings onto chloe who could barely breathe. red could feel chloe's whole body shake with each sob, "hey hey hey" red said pulling chloe's chin up to look her in the eyes. "chloe i need you to breathe, you're going to try and copy my breathing okay?" chloe nodded in response still shaking uncontrollably and was beyond embarrassed. "in" red took a deep breath in, "and out" she said while expelling all the air from her lungs. chloe did the same, although it was a lot more shaky and sharp. "again" red said reassuringly, "in and out" they continued this for a minute or two, red now had her hands on chloe's shoulders and slowly began to move them down her arms to meet her hands. "are you okay?" red said cautiously, "yeah, yeah i'm fine. i'm so sorry i've never had that happen before" she said wiping tears from her eyes. red took her hand and held it tight while continuing to wipe the tears from chloe's face.
after a minute of sniffles and awkward silence red spoke. "i don't know if this is like weird to say but do you wanna sleep in my bed tonight? like with me. it might help having someone else near you to feel less alone" chloe was struggling to think of how to respond. she desperately wanted to accept but didn't wanna make red feel like she had to do this , she didn't want to come off too eager either and make it weird. while she was thinking all of this red started to get up apologising "sorry that was stupid. you obviously wouldn-" chloe caught red by the hand and pulled herself up of the bed. their eyes met as chloe leaned in, as she got closer to reds face she could feel the hot breath coming from her mouth. it felt like electric sparks were coming from the two girls, chloe then pulled red closer and gave her a hug. "that would be perfect" she said with her arms wrapped around the red haired girl. red was so taken aback she didn't accept the hug for a few seconds. "okay" she said smiling as she pulled chloe away. "ladies first" she said gesturing chloe to get into the bed. "that's our new thing huh?" she said looking up at the girl. "only if you want" she said jokingly. chloe laughed it off and turned over facing away from red, red turned to face the same way. she wanted to desperately to put her arm around chloe. this wasn't like her at all, she never went soft on anyone. she finally caved moving closer to chloe and put her arm around her waist, chloe was taken aback and her face went completely scarlett. her whole body was filled with butterflies, she wasn't sure how to respond to this and settled on putting her hand over reds.
