The halls were empty and quiet, everyone must've been busy doing one thing or the other. I thought about stopping at the shooting range to practice aiming, or maybe getting a young coconut to sip on while I'm bored then going to take a dip in the pool later.

Still, I just can't have fun like I used to, knowing we all could someday kill each other. Whether that's by murder or being the reason for executing someone. It was an escapable sense of dread that continued to linger on my shoulders, weighing me down like a boulder.

"Meow!"

"A cat...?" I found myself mumbling whilst in thought. Suddenly I gasped, my mouth curled into a beaming smile once I distinguished the small, black figure in the distance. "Akemi!"

In an instant, I dropped to my knees, happily baring my chest as I expanded my arms outward. Akemi was accelerating with joy.

"Just come to mommy, dear!"

"Mew!"

Once she got close, I clutched onto her feline body and wrapped my arms around her with the tightest, yet warm hug yet.

That's what I imagined, at least. What actually happened was...

"Just come to mommy!"

"Merow!" Akemi took a sharp turn away from me, and zoomed past me. I was mortified like a stone statue before slowly breaking off and turning behind me.

Hosoku was behind me unknowingly with Akemi on his lap while he sat on the ground. "Who's a good girl?"

"Get my cat... off of your damn lap!" I pointed, accusingly.

"Your cat seems to like me more than you," he said, giggling as he stroked his hand over her luscious, coal black fur. Jealousy struck me like lightning.

"Akemi, how could you after all we've been through?!"

"Okay, okay, you can have a turn." Hosoku grunted as he lifted Akemi's body and placing her into my arms. "She's heavy."

"We don't fat shame here."

"I didn't mean it like that," Hosoku retorted, defensive. "Akemi's body is skinny but she's as heavy as... I'd say, metal almost."

"Your point?" I said calmly before violently diving my face into her fur with kisses. "Gosh, how are you so cute?!"

"How do you think she got in in the first place? Think about it. Monokuma and Monomai specifically got the sixteen of us trapped here with zero chances of escape. How did a cat get in that Monokuma and Monomai didn't even know about?"

I recalled the announcement when the killing game had just began:

"Meow..."

"What the fuck? Why's there a cat here? It ruined my plans of murdering Bad Haircut!" Monokuma complained like a small child, hitting his fists in the air.

"You're right," I said, the memories flashing back in my head. "And you know what... Monokuma one time told Monomai to 'find something.' What if that something is Akemi?"

"My point exactly. But I can't think of why—"

"MEOW!" Akemi swiped out her paw and cracked out her sharp claws.

"Woah. Don't worry Akemi, mommy and daddy aren't arguing. Just talking."

I lifted my gaze off of Akemi to glare. "Who are you calling mommy and daddy?"

"Sorry, did you want to be the daddy?"

"... Shut—"

"Meow meow meow meowmeowmeowmeow!" Akemi shook out of my arms and began scampering away.
