Xian's Pov

Sending Kayla to her room was a bit bittersweet since we used to share a bed. She was still young in terms of her immortality. The Daylight Weakness had her barely keeping up with our conversation. I did not like repeating myself. That wouldn't do, so we'd talk more tonight. I know she had stepped away from Romance & Feed because she wanted more distance from me, from what we were. Yet we had come up with the company together. It was ours. We knew this was a storm we were now both in. It was our pact once we started the company. We'd share the success and the fall.

There was something else though, that I couldn't let go of as I laid in my bed seeing the sun rise. It wasn't 15 minutes passed 6 yet and the fact that Kayla had a new connection with another, had me in such a tailspin. I could feel it in our Blood Bond. As her Master I could feel anyone she was bonded too. This wasn't the first, but it was different. So much so; this mortal piqued my curiosity fiercely. So it was of no consequence, that I found myself following Kayla's bond with the mortal all the way into Slumber. Putting up a bit of a haze so Kayla couldn't follow.

To my surprise, the mortal was seemingly aware of her surroundings and looking for Kayla. She'd chosen a rooftop overlooking a vast blurry city at night. That she was able to imagine that up, along with the waning moon was most impressive. She was also very gorgeous. She wore a red satin, skin tight, knee high dress with a slit, that stood out against her dark brown skin. Her silver heels brought my attention to her ankles and shapely legs. I found myself matching her red with a dress and of my own as I came out of the shadowed corner after observing her for a couple minutes. My initial reaction to her, a mixed bag of emotions. I ended up pairing my dress with gold strapless heels.

The mortal gasped seeing me. Her gray eyes even more stunning the closer I got, it was as though an eclipse were in her gaze. Her eyes holding mine as if she sensed our familiarity, but couldn't quite place it.

"You aren't Kayla." She said softly, as I continued to walk closer surveying the table and assortments of wine and fruit she had imagined.

I plopped a luscious grape in my mouth. Were this real I wouldn't dare eat it. In Slumber; however, food always invoked the memory of flavor. It was why my kind loved it here on occasion, those of us who could tap into the magic. I could feel her eyes on my lips as I ate the grape. I felt myself amused at her desire. "No, I am not Kayla. My name is Xian." I contemplated telling her I was Kayla's Master, but why ruin the fun? I loved a good mystery. And this human was interesting.

"Are you a vampire?" she asked nervously.

I chuckled. "Did the red give it away? I promise I'm not here to hurt you. I'm simply curious about you. What is your name?" I asked her, inching closer, testing her curiosity and her boundaries.

She stood her ground and I quite liked it. Her stance widened. "My name is Rena."

I stood about a foot from her now. And though in Slumber the scent of her teased my senses. Kayla always had good taste. "Reeeenaaa....," I said drawing out her name. "I quite like how that sounds on my tongue. Do tell me, how you know about Slumber, Reena?"

She seemed unsure, crossing her arms over her perky breasts. "A friend. She's a witch."

I circled her and she stood oh so still. "You're very beautiful, Rena. I'm not so often this intrigued by a mortal."

Her gaze fell to my eyes and my lips. She couldn't possibly understand it was her Bite Bond with Kayla that drew her too me and her confusion was obvious. It was my blood that Turned Kayla, so naturally this mortal would be drawn to its source.

I stepped closer daring her to move away and she didn't. I faced her, standing a bit taller at my 5'8, I looked down at her. "Why aren't you afraid of me Rena?" I asked, genuinely curious. Because even with her Bite Bond, I was a stranger to her and a vampire no less.

Rena rose her chin up. Her eyes defiant. "If you wanted to hurt me, you already would have. Plus I don't sense any danger from you. I trust my instincts."

"What do you sense from me?" I challenged cocking my hip.

She rose a brow, licking her lips; she fidgeted a little, her confidence only wavering a tad. "I think you're attracted to me."

At this, I gave a slow chuckle and her eyes hardened. This mortal was feisty. "Are you saying I'm wrong? Then why are your nipples hard?" She said, then she immediately seemed to understand once more, the danger I could possibly be. Her eyes widened. "I'm sorry. I mean, I'm not but......"

I rose my finger to her full, lush lips. "Shhhhh mortal. Don't be sorry for being truthful. I much like this boldness. It could get you killed one day, but with me right now, you are safe." I lowered my finger, smirking at her shocked expression. "And you are correct." I leaned down whispering into her cute pierced ear. "I am very attracted to you. Enough so I'd fuck you on this roof top in a million ways. Some I've even invented." I laughed at the thought and drew back seeing her swallow. I carefully moved her long braids over her slender shoulder, baring her neck. Even in Slumber I could feel Kayla's Claim upon her and could feel it in her spirit.

Rena shivered, when my fingers caressed where I knew Kayla had bit her. My touch feather light as I let my finger pads drift across her skin. My own fangs started to descend and the mortals heart rate increased ten fold. "Worry not, Rena. I know another has claimed you. While my bite is more sophisticated.....I will restrain myself." I said this, more to myself, than her.

Taking a step back, my eyes lingered on her neck. Her scent urging me to ignore what I just proclaimed. I bet the mortal would even welcome me. Her eyes were on my fangs, my lips and my breasts again. I was wondering if it were merely just the Bite Bond or more that lingered in her heated gaze. So deliciously tempting, a prize she was.

I took another step back and she surprised me by reaching for my hand. "Don't leave. Not yet," she said, her fingers grasping mine.

My, my; what kind of mortal was this?
