Rena’s Pov

What the hell was I thinking? I wondered as I reached out and took this seductress vampire’s hand. I knew the moment I saw her in red slinking about like some graceful Asian Goddess, I knew I was in for it. Some part of me even questioned if she was real. But the moment her fingers touched me across my neck and her seductive scent reached me, I couldn’t fight my urge to be closer to her. The odd thing was, she felt like Kayla too. But so much more and different. I couldn’t keep my gaze off her.

Part of me was suspicious; of course. A strange, sexy vampire, showing up out of nowhere, for me? This had never happened before. I was betting she knew Kayla somehow. And the connection would be obvious once made. Yet I wanted to know her, and it was a surprising need I didn’t have time to ponder over. Not out of jealousy either, but of raw want. I wanted to know if her and Kayla shared a history. I wanted to know her history. The urge was near overwhelming and I just paused looking at her hand in mine.

“You are one strange mortal.” Xian said. Her words were silky and low, her English perfect even with her noticeable accent.

“I’ve been told I’m weird. My whole life.” I said honestly.

Xian still held my hand. Her delicate sensual features a beautiful war in her expression. “It seems a good thing to be weird. It suits you beautifully.”

I felt my cheeks warm. “Will you have a glass of wine with me, Xian?” I said, trying out her name pronunciation.

She smiled proudly, and I barely could keep my eyes in my head. She was so stunning, I found myself openly staring. “I’d love that, Rena.”

Over by the wine, I was a mess of anxiety. Normally, I’m so confident and quick on my feet. Xian legit made me nervous. Her pale skin seemed made for moonlight. Her dark black hair near midnight purplish blue. Her red lips and her dress that was near the same shade of the red I wore. It made me wonder if she matched us purposely.

“I did match you.” Xian said easily, taking the glass I offered her. Her dark eyes studying my reaction.

“You can read my mind?” I asked cautiously.

Xian shook her head no. She stood adjacent to me. We were close, but not touching. The want to do so, however, was there in that too small a space. “I can not read your mind here in Slumber. But I’ve centuries of reading body languages. Your eyes are very expressive.”

I smiled shyly. “Why did you match me?”

“The color red is a favorite and you look amazing in it. As do I. I also wanted to mirror you, to put you at ease.”

    “Why?”

She turned to face me. “Ask me, what you really want to ask me, Rena.”

I swallowed hard, from her heated look. The feeling she gave me was unlike any I’d felt before. I wanted to run away like the prey I was and to her at the same time as if I was a trained house cat needing milk. Both panic and exhilaration coexisting. She put her glass down.

And before my eyes my dreamscape began to change like smoke manifesting into something new. Then suddenly my back was to a wall as we stood in an unfamiliar bedroom. I gasped as Xian was there in front of me. I froze as she seductively pressed her body into mine starting with the slip in our dresses at the junction of our thighs. Then our abdomen and chests meeting, her head nestling the side of mine. It resembled a hug, yet with her hands coming to rest above my head. Mine at my sides awkwardly, as she relaxed her body into mine. Our breathing evening out; together.

“Ask me.” She said into my neck and I shivered from head to toe. My thoughts whirling from her nearness. From her warmth, the sudden scenery and position change. I knew this was a dream, but how it felt? It was near too much. And I still wanted more. So much more.

“I want to know if you know Kayla and why I’m so drawn to you.”

She shifted her body so she could look down at me her long black hair hanging like a curtain. I tensed as she lowered her hands to my hips. Her touch was light, driving me wild. What was I doing? What about Kayla? Wasn’t this kind of about Kayla too?

Xian sighed, “Okay, little mortal. If you must know. Kayla and I are Blood Kin.”

I noticed the word from taking Vampire Studies & Lifestyle in college. “So you do know her?”

    Xian nodded. “Intimately.”

Once more, I was surprised jealousy didn’t worm its way into my head. Although, with her body on mine in such an imitate way, did I have room to be jealous?

Xian’s hands settled more firmly on my hips and I bit back a moan as pleasure ignited beneath my skin. “The sound of your moan is sublime.” Xian said inching closer, I felt her nose along my neck, her warm breath as she inhaled me. “As is your scent. Do you taste as good as you smell, Rena?”

“Why don’t you see?” I challenged, near forgetting where we were and what she was.

Xian pressed her body more into me opening my thighs more with her own. “You tempt me beyond reason mortal. Were this another time, another place….. but I’ve already crossed a line. Kayla will not like this.”

I stilled. Kayla and I weren’t exclusive, but I somehow felt this was more than a complication. Xian was too much of a woman just to be a dalliance Kayla had. I could feel it in the restraint Xian was showing. “You love her.” I said searching her dark eyes.

Xian slid her hands up my sides causing me to jerk. She paused at my chin, gently cupping me. “I will always love, Kayla. Yet my heart has always needed more. She was never comfortable with that.” So much, she was saying and not enough. I wanted to kiss her. I wanted her to kiss me to bite me and have her way. And it shocked me that I wanted it so bad.

“You want me to kiss you and you don’t know why?” Xian said reading my expression clear as day.

    “Yes.” I admitted, honestly.

She grinned. And I paused as she leaned in, but she merely turned my head to the side kissing my left cheek and then my right. Her lips were moist and soft; I closed my eyes in bliss at the mere contact. “I’ll kiss you when you are sure, Rena. Not a moment sooner.”

I wanted to protest as she drew away from my body. Her warmth and nearness being gone had me feeling naked. “Will I see you again?” I asked as she took another step back. I knew she was going to leave.

“Yes, you’ll see me again. You’ll also see Kayla. She won’t like us meeting like this. Kayla is much to rigid about such….things. So, I’ll leave it up to you, if you tell her or not. Enjoy your morning, Rena.” With that everything faded and I woke up with a start, my heart racing. My fingers were already rubbing between my legs. So I kept it up. Why ruin a good thing?
