A few hours after The Dream vs Fever game, Atlanta, Georgia. 2025.
"Fine! We aren't friends! Honestly, I agree. I hate you. You are seriously fucked up, Caitlin!" Nora shouted in Caitlin's face.
"Whatever, you're just as fucked up." Caitlin snapped back.
"What have I even done now?! I've tried to be friendly with you because now we're teammates! I couldn't even care about our dumb 'rivalry' in AAU and college.. You have got to get over it!"
Caitlin just scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"You are ruining my experience.. If roles were reversed I would never do this to you!" Nora almost wanted to cry.
Caitlin scoffed again. "You're such a liar, you totally would do this to me."
"No Caitlin, I wouldn't.." Nora was kind of exhausted, she was tired by Caitlin's behavior in these two games and in practice, she was tired of trying and so done with the attitude. By now, Nora was tearing up.
Now Caitlin went quiet, feeling the guilt now. Caitlin has been cruel to Nora, but she couldn't help that she loved when she mad Nora mad.
"You're seriously the worst. I fucking hate you." Nora walked away and sat on her own bed, she was trying not to cry.
Caitlin felt as if she didn't have the right to try to comfort Nora or apologize at the moment. Caitlin bit her lip and sat down beside Nora on Nora's bed.
"Get off my bed.." Nora mumbled, her face rested on her knees.
Caitlin didn't move but stayed quiet, sitting beside her.
"Go away.." She mumbled again.
Caitlin felt like she shouldn't go away, after all she was responsible for this.
Nora sat up slightly and turned her head to look at Caitlin. "You're so immature."
Caitlin slightly smiled, she still didn't know what to say. They were sitting so close that Caitlin could feel Nora's breath on her face. Nora smelled wonderful, how had Caitlin never noticed this before?
"Stop smiling, I'm serious!" Nora was holding back a smile herself now.
Caitlin scooted closer now and wrapped her arms around Nora in a hug, Caitlin resting her head on Nora's shoulder. Nora hugged Caitlin back, the two sitting in each other's arms for awhile.
Now that Caitlin had noticed how Nora smelled so good, she couldn't get enough of it. It was one of those weird, small things about Nora that weirdly drove Caitlin kind of crazy... However, this was not the first, there were many of those weird, small things. Like how Nora acts when she's mad at Caitlin, how Nora dresses, and Nora's Instagram posts; While Nora and Caitlin didn't follow each other, Caitlin often found herself on Nora's page.
The way Nora smells was now added to this small list, it was definitely a shampoo or hair product Nora uses that made her smell this way, why Caitlin couldn't help but love it was beyond her.
Nora soon removed her arms from around Caitlin and scooted slightly away, ending the hug between the two. "Can we call some sort of truce..?"
Caitlin was brought back to reality, "A truce?" her eyes widened.
"A truce, we just be friendly teammates and stop trying to terrorize each other."
"Terrorize is an interesting word choice but sure, truce." Caitlin shrugged.
"It's the truth! You terrorize me." Nora protested.
"Oh you're saying that I am the terrorizer?" Caitlin crossed her arms and looked at Nora with an 'are you sure?' kind of look.
"Well recently yes, you have been the terrorizer!" Nora said proudly.
"That's such bs!"
"It is not?!"
"Our truce has already been broken, maybe we're destined to hate each other." Caitlin's tone was almost theatrical.
"Oh whatever, you're so dramatic." Nora lightly pushed Caitlin before laying back onto her bed. "I'm exhausted."
Caitlin laid back, her position the same as Nora's with her legs dangling off the bed while she laid. "Yea.. same."
Nora stared at the ceiling of the hotel room before looking over at Caitlin. "You have your own bed to sleep in, by the way.."
"Yea, but I'm just hanging out with you. I hope you don't mind." Caitlin slightly smiled.
"You switch up so fast, one second you're acting like we're friends then the next you're telling me we're not friends. Which is it?"
"Whatever I decide in the moment..?" There was a hint of question in her tone.
"Oh you're annoying." Nora said with a yawn, closing her eyes.
"Uh huh.." Caitlin's eyes lingered on Nora's face a little too long before also closing.
Nora quickly fell asleep, her legs still dangling off the end of the bed while she laid peacefully on her back. Caitlin didn't fall asleep as fast, but also eventually did. The two in the same oddly comfortable position.
...
The sun crept into the hotel room, waking the two up.
"Oh, good morning..?" Nora opened her eyes and looked over to see Caitlin laying about a couple inches away.
"Oops.. Sorry, I fell asleep in your bed.." Caitlin sat up with a slight laugh as she stood up and moved over to her own bed, laying back down.
"Pff, nice one." Nora sat up and moved all the way onto her bed, laying back down. "Do you know when we fly back home?" Nora asked.
"Hmm.. I think tonight we do."
"Awesome.." Her tone dripped with sarcasm knowing she'd have to deal with a flight home.
Nora and Caitlin mostly spent the day laying around in and out of sleep on their separate beds before packing up and flying back home to Indiana.
