starlight manon wright x sam golbach chapter 1
Manon Grace Wright's entire life was changing.
Her eyes glazed over the backyard of her Norfolk home, the sliding door open as she watched her friends enjoy a snowball fight with her neighbours' kids. Little Charlotte hit Manon's boyfriend Sam straight in the face, earning the sweetest laughter from them both.
Catherine and William had asked Manon and Sam to babysit for a bit, which caused the two to now have 11-year-old George, 9-year-old Charlotte and 6-year-old Louis in their yard.
"Hi Miss Wright," her head turned to see George, a bright, happy grin on his face. "Why don't you come join us?"
Manon smiled at the boy, reaching over and ruffling his hair. "I'd love too, but someone has to keep an eye on the hot chocolate. And please, for the hundredth time, call me Manon."
"Your name's French," the Prince commented, eyebrows furrowed - just visible under his beanie. "Like Char and Lou's."
"Yup," Manon smiled at him, unaware of the blue eyes watching her from outside.
Sam Golbach had known for a while his girlfriend was the motherly type, purely from the way she treated the Wales kids whenever she saw them. She looked at all kids in adoration, and it was something he decided to try, too. The first kids to really see the side of him that played with them and enjoyed it were the Wales kids. Charlotte was the playful one, he'd learnt, Louis was the 'mischievous' one and George was a bit more reserved.
"Manon!" Charlotte shouted with delight, standing just behind Sam. Her hair was in pigtails, green eyes sparkling as she held out her gloved hand. "I caught a snowflake!"
"Careful, it might melt!" Manon called back to the girl, "what's it look like?"
Charlotte's eyes trailed down to the snowflake, "oh, it's melting." She gasped and spun around, revealing the remains of a snowball dripping down her back. "Louis!"
Sam grinned as he stepped over the threshold into the house, heading over to Manon, who was leaning against the counter as she spoke to George. Her head raised when she saw him, smiling. "Hey."
"Hey," he grinned back, walking around the boy to wrap an arm around her. She ruffled his hair to remove the dust of snow, her eyes flickering to watch as everyone filed in.
"Ooh!" Colby Brock grabbed at a cup of hot chocolate, Aurelie Wright whacking his hand. "Hey!"
"That might not be for us, idiot!"
"It is, don't worry," Manon assured him, laughing as two arms wrapped around the side of her that Sam wasn't pressed too.
"Thank you for watching us," Louis' voice was soft as he looked at her, grinning when she did.
"Of course Lou, you guys are always a pleasure. Lou, George, Char, grab some hot chocolate."
"Thank you!" They chorused back, giggling.
"You're such a mom," Sam teased, to which she whacked his arm, "hey!"
"Leave me alone and drink your hot chocolate."
"Yeah, yeah," he smiled and began to drink the liquid, watching as Manon took her own.
Their lives were changing, but it was for the better.
