The school bell rang loudly through the intercom, signaling the start of our lunch period.
"Alright class! Please make sure to do pages 145-150 as homework!" Mr. Lee boomed over the sounds of chairs being pushed in, and backpack zippers being closed. "Please make sure to show your work!"
"Let's head to the cafeteria?" Julian nudged my shoulder.
I stood up, putting my binder inside my backpack. I looked to my right, seeing Julian all packed up and ready to go. "I have to ask Mr. Lee something."
Julian nodded. "I'll wait for you outside, 'kay?"
I smiled. "Thanks."
As the remaining students left the classroom, it was only me and Mr. Lee in the room. I stood next to my desk, waiting for him to recognize me.
"Oh, Ms. Cho, what do I owe you today?" Mr. Lee fixed pushed his glasses further up his nose bridge as he focused his attention onto me.
I walked over to his desk located in the front of the classroom. "I have some questions about-"
"Abigail Chung." He raised an eyebrow, smiling. "Am I correct?"
I nodded. Mr. Lee sighed. "Look, Kat," he reclined in his seat, a worried expression painted on his face. "I don't want to get involved in this. I'm already doing my part, looking for her and putting up missing person posters. I don't want to spread false information, or information that I don't know."
"I just wanted to ask you what you already know." I said.
Mr. Lee's expression turned serious. He crossed his arms against his chest. "Go ahead."
"You were with Abigail's family the day she disappeared, correct?"
Mr. Lee nodded. "She was with us at the time."
"Was she doing anything out of the ordinary?" I asked.
Mr. Lee shook his head, pausing for a few seconds. "Not that I remember, no."
I nodded. "She didn't talk about someone randomly, correct?" I raised an eyebrow. "Like meeting someone new, or wanting to meetup with a random guy?"
Abigail had a habit of blind dating online (I advised her not to continuously after one incident that happened.) She did it to tease the guys, but sometimes she would actually want to meetup with them. One time, she meetup with her blind date, and it happened to be a sixth grader.
Mr. Lee smiled, shaking his head. "Nope. She also didn't talk about paranormal rituals."
I laughed at his comment. Mr. Lee believed in ghosts and paranormal games. Even though he is our math teacher, he knew a lot about those type of games. If there was a separate class about ghosts, he would teach it.
"I ate dinner with her family. I asked her about her plans for the week, but her family said she was preparing for the upcoming speech debate this week." Mr. Lee sat up in his chair. "You were with her the night before she disappeared, right?"
I looked at him. "Yeah, I was. She didn't act weird or anything. She didn't talk about her blind dates. We watched a movie together."
Mr. Lee nodded. "Yeah, she told me about you two watching Scream 6 together." There was a moment of silence, as if Mr. Lee was thinking about any other information he would want to give me. He looked and me and raised his shoulders. "Well kiddo, that's all I got to say. Sorry I couldn't be much of a help." Mr. Lee patted my shoulder.
"It's alright, thanks though." I smiled. I walked over to my desk and slung my backpack over my shoulder.
"Have a great weekend Kat!" Mr. Lee said as I walked towards the exit. I looked over my shoulder. I smiled and waved towards Mr. Lee before I exited.
