Trigger warnings: Blood, Body Horror, Killing/Death, Gore
"Unbelievable... What could've caused all this... carnage? It's... It's unnatural!"
A man wearing a navy blue police uniform looked around the now desolate university. Police sirens could be heard everywhere. Tens of officers are on the scene of what was supposed to be a fun school dance... but there was nothing they could do now.
"How is this possible?"
The man in his mid-thirties walked into the university and almost gagged upon entering. The scene before him was unlike anything he could've imagined. The pungent smell of blood clogged his lungs. The piles of bodies that have been dismembered, sliced, beaten, torn to shreds, and twisted like they were pretzels were everywhere. Not a single hallway was clean or deprived of the vile stench of death.
The man held his cap on his chest, mourning in silence for the departed. His brunette hair flowed in the wind as his green eyes solemnly looked on as he continued to carefully walk over the dead bodies.
"Chief Inspector Mathews, we are glad you were able to come."
An officer saluted the inspector, which he reciprocated.
"I came as fast as I could. Please, show me to the gymnasium. I believe that's where they found the symbol?"
"That's right, please follow me."
The Chief Inspector of Veeshine City is Patrick T. Mathews. He's the best in the city and one of the most reliable members of the force. He has cracked many cases around the city, but none quite like this one.
The two men entered the gymnasium dyed in the blood of students everywhere.
"Interesting... It's the same symbol..."
On the back wall of the gymnasium were eight giant arrows in a radial with an eye at the center all painted using blood. The officers around the scene were drawing with chalk around three spots that caught Patrick's attention.
"What was there before?"
"That's where they found the only students that are still alive, sir."
"Only three, huh? Where are they now?"
"They are at the Veeshine East Hospital."
"I'll have to pay them a visit after looking around more."
He looked around the surrounding area with disgust.
"What's your name, officer?"
"M-my name? Uhm, I'm Officer Luis Dawkins, sir."
"Luis... Very well. Do you mind if I share my thoughts?"
"Please, I would love it if you did."
Patrick looked at the symbol with a pensive look before putting his hand on his chin.
"Earlier today, at around 1 AM, the biggest orphanage in the city was set ablaze by an unidentified individual or group. By the time that firetrucks and ambulances got there, it was too late. There were no survivors. Every person burned inside the facility. From the head of the establishment to even the children... However, the number of corpses didn't match the orphanage's database."
"What do you mean by that?"
"There were less corpses than there were humans in the place. There's a strong possibility that there are many children now missing from the orphanage."
"That's awful..."
"Indeed... But the most curious thing? This exact same symbol was there too."
"So they killed everyone here then kidnapped children before burning an orphanage?!"
