As I finished the dishes, I sighed. My father's thoughts were on my mind. At that moment, a single plate dropped with a loud sound. I closed my eyes when I heard that loud sound. I picked it up later.
"My mind is full of thoughts every time."
"Are you that absent-minded?" As soon as I heard the voice, I turned around and realized who it was.
"I am sorry." Of course its Manushika didi, I told her.
"Well, I want you to do one thing for me."
"What is it." I spoke while blotting my hands and holding them apart.
"Look, a few of my school friends are coming, and I want you to prepare the best dishes for them."
"Is that all?" Grinning, I said.
"What? Do not be oversmart!"
I remained silent.
"Anyways, prepare these."
"Um, what about the vegetables."
"Should I go and buy them?" With her eyes piercing mine, she said.
"Um-"
"Go buy it and make it fast!" She shouted. I gave a nod, and she left.
It was a lengthy list, and nearly every vegetable was included. Only a few more quantities were required. It'll take a long time. It's better for me to go buy now.
I used the money Varun Sir gave me to make grocery purchases. As soon as I exited the living room, I saw Alex sir.
"Hi Aisha."
"Hello," I hurriedly said.
"Where are you going?"
"To market."
"Wait, I will drop you."
"No, it's okay."
"Aisha, wait." He caught my arm, and I gulped.
"To where are you sprinting? I'll accompany you when we arrive."
Just as I opened my mouth to speak, a call came in on his phone. He talked to someone for five minutes without stopping. Since I was running out of time, I just continued. Why should I bother him? He's a busy guy who gets calls a lot.
I brought the items and took an auto.
I returned to the house in about forty minutes.
Varun and Alex Sir are nowhere to be found. They might have made it somewhere, though.
I sang while humming a tune.
"Hi Aisha.."
"Good afternoon, sir." Sir Rolex just arrived.
"Good afternoon." He snorted.
"Still sleepy?" He laughed when I asked.
"Yes. Yesterday, I had a meeting to attend. Owing to the time difference, I had to remain up late."
"Oh yeahh." I gave him a smile.
"What are you making?"
"Oh it's-" At that moment, Manushika didi entered. I gulped, figuring she would have to give him something today.
It surprised me that she was so composed.
"Papa is calling." After she told him, he left.
"How long will it take?"
"Just an hour."
"Hurry up; they will arrive very soon." I gave a nod and carried on preparing.
It took a few minutes for me to hear the car horn.
"Huh? Is that you, Alex sir?"
Yes, that is him.
I made the lemon juice quickly and brought it into the living room. However, there was an additional individual present with Varun sir and Alex sir.
"A guest!"
She must be Sir's friend, I suppose.
The visitor and Alex sir, were chatting and laughing. Her bags were carried by both of them.
I hurried back and poured lemon juice into another glass.
"Sir," I uttered.
"Oh thanks." While I was offering the juice, Varun Sir said.
I followed suit, but Alex sir wouldn't have it.
"Hey, thanks." the visitor said. She really is a stunning woman.
"By the way, Elena she is Aisha." I grinned at Alex Sir, as she said that.
"Ohh.." She gave me the O-look.
"Aisha. Elena is a friend of mine."
"Hi mam."
"Hello."
We greeted each other with a smile and went about our work. Later, in the afternoon, everyone sat down to lunch. Manushika didi's friends arrived, and the house was full of people. It was my responsibility to serve food to everyone, so that's okay.
"Who made this?" one of her friends asked.
"I made it." Manushika replied confidently.
"Oh really?" her other friend asked.
"Yup." Manushika answered.
"You are lying, you don't know how to cook. And moreover, you don't have the patience to cook." Another friend of hers said.
"You are lying, you don't know how to cook." Her guy friend said the same. Manushika shot a death glare at everyone. Rolex sir laughed.
I was about to leave after finishing all the chores when I remembered the clothes I had spread out on the terrace. I put my bag down and went to get those clothes, but I nearly got froze when I saw Alex Sir and Elena, the guest, hugging and taking a lot of pictures. Elena was wearing a crop top and shorts, so I turned around to leave right away so as not to invade their privacy.
"Friend, he said," I muttered.
