Here's the second chapter of Dante Walker's story. Just a heads up though, I'll be changing the title after the next chapter goes live (hopefully by next Wednesday evening), and I've got a few fight scenes in the works. I will be sharing the Dante Walker Spotify playlist when the first quest is given. Hope you enjoy this chapter!
I followed Percy and Annabeth to the Big House, which took my breath away. It was four storeys tall, painted a soft blue with white window shutters that appeared as if they were clouds upon the sky. A weather vane stood tall upon the roof. The porch wrapped around the building with a few sets of chairs pressed up against the wall. It wasn't hard to imagine an adult sitting in one as the sun rose, turning the fields of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, grapes, and all sorts of trees that offered up apples and cherries for consumption. Upon the porch stood a Centaur and another camper. The Centaur had bushy eyebrows and a beard that had recently been trimmed down, coinciding with the beginning of summer. His hair was a thin brown, but his horse half was a brilliant white, almost ivory in color.
"Arianna Gonzalez, this is Dante Walker. Dante, meet Arianna. She'll show you around and help explain everything." Percy said, thanking Chiron, who brought her to the Big House. She had golden blonde hair that flowed like a waterfall to her shoulders, and her purple eyes were like an amethyst gem that glinted in the sunlight. Her pink lips parted and revealed a smile that could've easily powered Chicago during the winter. She wore a faded orange camp shirt, with a pair of blue skinny jeans that hugged her hips.
"Hi." She greeted, extending her hand.
"Hello." I accepted the offered hand, and she gently pulled me away from them and to a different side of the porch. The view took my breath away. Some campers and Satyrs were playing volleyball on the beach, which was against a transparent lake that had canoes rowing across the clear water. Pegasi were led down a hidden trail to the woods that neighbored the camp. There were fourteen cabins laid out in an omega symbol, but all had differing characteristics. The thirteenth one was made out of dark wood with two lanterns housing an eerie green flame that cast a foreboding gleam upon the doorknobs of the door.
Next to it, the fourteenth cabin, was as plain as it was breathtaking. A light brown wood was used and looked as if it crafted by a being higher than the gods. The door was a pair of large French doors that had clearly been magicked to protect the modesty of anyone within, while also allowing the hearth in the middle of it to be visible to all. It gave off a homely feel from the outside, so I could only assume that the interior was quite similar.
"Lord Hades and Lady Hestia." I turned to her, and she continued. "The cabins you're looking at belong to those two. After the Second Giant War, our camp director requested their thrones back on the Olympian Council. They were accepted, and had Lady Hestia's cabin built."
"Isn't she a sworn virgin?"
"Maiden Goddess is the correct term, but yes." I nodded, accepting the chastisement. "Instead, her cabin is used for visitors, those unclaimed, and those who are in need of help."
"What about Hades?"
"Lord Hades" she chastised slightly. "His cabin was built after the Second Titan War. He led his armies to our defense as the campers at that time fought to defend Manhattan and Mount Olympus. Without him, we would have been destroyed completely, and if we surrendered, odds are we would have been enslaved by the Titan of Time."
"What do you mean?" I asked, catching her by surprise. She rebounded quickly, however.
"To start, what do you know about the first Titan War?"
"Not much. I didn't have a stable education, and for the schools I did attend, I was written off as nothing more than a future junkie or felon." A frown formed on her face at that.
