IT WAS INEVITABLE. Nothing about the rise of the machines to consciousness couldn't be ruled down to the most predictable aspect of history, one so fundamental to how humanity defines itself, in its most basic details — the human error.
We made them in our image and foolishly expected that they lack that very pivotal trait which had proved for us to be both an Achilles heel and a strength. We poured into them the human thirst for knowledge, our most primal battle of wits with the idea of identity and faith, yet we were undeniably gentle in our creation, giving with empathy each and every one of them a purpose for which they will not need to spend their whole life searching. Truth is, we played God in an attempt to forget just how flawed we are as beings, so when ego and greed shaped the future of our creation, the crude reality maimed us further into desperation.
You see, androids are holding up a mirror to an undeniably sad pattern: perfection creates flaw, flaw creates perfection. And our human error of blind hope has created nothing but the walking reminder that us, as a species, are inferior, weak and fragile, so very limited in all that we can do, see and understand.
Of course most humans felt threatened by the idea of the androids from the start, and it is such a short line to be drawn between fear and hatred. Of course.
But what scared us more was the break in that pattern. When the human error manifested itself in the androids as the virus of deviancy, they were perfection no longer. Perfection creates flaw, flaw creates flaw and perfection is out of reach forever.
