A/N: okay so basically i'm skipping over the next episode "the Tell" because there's nothing "original" from my plot that I would incorporate into that episode. so, we're moving on to the next one!

i'll give a lil recap from stacy's pov about the previous "episode" and then we'll move on

You know what really makes Stacy's day?

Jackson getting attacked by the alpha at a video store the other night.

What doesn't make Stacy's day?

Her dear friend Lydia was traumatized because she saw the alpha but keeps trying to convince herself and everyone else that it was a mountain lion. Conveniently enough, a mountain lion was shot in the school parking lot the previous night during parent-teacher conferences, so Lydia didn't seem like a total psycho to everyone else.

"Still not talking to me?" Scott asked the back of Stiles's head. Stiles didn't respond. Scott swung his head over Stacy's direction and the girl just shrugged. Stiles was mad at Scott because his dad got injured last night after a run-in with the mountain lion.

It wasn't really Scott's fault, but Stiles was mad at his friend for other things. Skipping school without telling him, going AWOL and shutting his phone off, and being a little irresponsible about the whole werewolf thing. The sheriff's injury was just icing on the cake.

"Okay, can you at least tell me if your dad is okay?" Scott asks, feeling guilty. "It's just a bruise and soft tissue damage, right? Nothing that big... you know I feel really bad about it right?"

"His dad is okay," Stacy said softly, trying to make Scott feel a little better.

Scott nodded at that in thanks, taking a deep breath. "What if... I told you that I'm trying to figure this whole thing out and that I went to Derek for help?"

Stiles shot Stacy an incredulous look, silently saying Scott is an idiot, before replying snarkly, "If I was talking to you, I'd say that you're an idiot for trusting him."

Scott grinned at Stacy. Stiles was starting to break the silent treatment. A beat passed before Stiles turned around, sighing, "What'd he say?"

"Why does that sound like a terrible idea?" Stacy groaned as the trio left class and headed for the library. "Tap into your animal side and get angry? Really, Derek?"

"Yeah, uh... correct me if I'm wrong," Stiles nodded along. "Every time you do that, you try to kill someone, and that someone's usually us."

"I know," Scott sighs. "That's what he means when he says he doesn't know if he can teach me. I have to be able to control it."

"How's he gonna teach you to do that?" Stacy asked. "Just keep hitting you until you stop turning?"

Stacy's comment sparked an idea in Stiles's head. "When are you seeing Derek again?" the boy asks, opening the door for Stacy and Scott to the library.

"After work. He's picking me up," Scott explains, following Stacy in and plopping down at a table near the door.

"After work," Stiles echoes, sitting down next to Stacy. "All right. Well, that gives us to the end of the school day, then."

"To do what?" Scott asks.

"Yeah, to do what?" Stacy cocks her head sideways like a confused puppy. Stiles grinned. She was adorable.

"To teach Scott ourselves."

"I feel like that's going to end terribly," Stacy comments, pulling out a leather-bound book from her bag.

"What's that?" Stiles asks, reaching for the book.
